Black Bear Standoff and 2 Bluff Charges, Chasing Away a persistent and habituated Bear in Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park Sierra Nevada California.
This was a tense Bear encounter in Kings Canyon National Park recently. I came from down canyon, and a couple was packing up camp up canyon, so the bear was in between us and being very curious about the couple. The couple asked me to help them out and stay with them until they could pack up and gather their belongings.I moved sideways off the trail and circled around the bear to get to the location of the couple so that the bear wouldn't feel trapped. The bear was very curious and maybe slightly aggressive, stomping its feet towards us several times. I could not back up because the couple was packing up camp right next to me and if I backed up the bear would come at the couples gear and food. He looked like he was smelling food all the time. Watch until the end to see how it goes. I was holding my phone in my left hand filming, while having sticks and poles in the other hand to make myself tall.
