Great technique. My father taught me that as a kid. He was a great wrestler and fighter. I used that technique at camp Dearborn summer camp when a bully grabbed me from behind. About 1985. It worked great. The other boy was so stunned he looked at me in complete shock as he slid down the hill after being thrown.

Believe it or not I learn those techniques in teakwondo in the 80s. It was part of our self defense techniques

All the self-defense techniques in jiu-jitsu are found in other arts or variations of them. Everyone has burrowed or shared with one another. Jiu-jitsu comes from Judo which is why you see the same defenses in those black and white demos from the 1940's. Taekwondo comes from Tang Soo Do which comes from Shotokan. Jigoro Kano (Judo) and Gcihin Funakoshi (Shotokan) were friends and exchanged knowledge. Hapkido and Aikido come from Daito-ryu Aikijujuitsu. Many taekwondo stylists have cross trained in hapkido over the decades.

Great option when they pull their leg back and you can't do the sitting knee bar.
