Valente is one of the few places where the very essence of Hélio Gracie Jiu Jitsu is still being taught, designed to help the weak defend from the strong. 👏

One thing I see that the Valente Brothers do compare to other BJJ schools is that they practice the techniques under resistance. Which I feel is very important because I would want to know how each self defense technique properly feel and be applied when under pressure and resistance.

Nowadays it is very hard to find videos of self-defense-oriented B.J.J. We have to be thankful to Valente Bros for keeping the roots of B.J.J. Combat sport has been changing. Many people have forgotten the true aspect of B.J.J. But these people never got caught in the so-called trends in the sport. Someday, everybody will be back to self-defense by throwing away the crazy stuff in the sport.🎉❤

Excellent demonstration of another extremely effect self defense technique in the Valente Brothers "Fighting Foundations" and "Self-Defense Mastery course(s) and training. As a 6th degree judoka, 2nd degree in bjj, and muay thai Kru, karate black belt and many decades in boxing, I was fortunate enough to be a student of the Valente Brothers. The experience with the Valente Brothers was life changing. I am indebted to them for the self-defense skill sets and philosopher taught to me which now teach to others. Jita Kyeoi

Oh btw I've seen a critique of this technique in watch?v=eSxPYL10_so around the 5 minute mark (the title of the video is a bit clickbait; the guy is a BJJ practictioner himself). Does this escape only work if the attacker has his elbows outside?
