It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the world around them was brightly, deliciously green, and they were happy. Doris Leon "D.L." Menard (1932-2017) was a legend of Cajun Music. This rendition of his trademark two-step song is quintessential, because it shows how he passed on his music with heart and soul to the generation of grandchildren. Just look at how capable, but humble the young musicians play up to him. It is as if they felt, that even this giant would not cast his shadow on the Earth forever.

Had an uncle, Milton Touchet, who died in '08 and after his wake and his Catholic mass we gathered in the cemetery of the Catholic church in Erath, La for his burial. I never experienced this before but a man sang a French song for my uncle at his casket. Didn't know the words of the song since I don't speak French but I later learned that the man who sang the French song was the one & only D. L. Menard. Obviously they both knew each other and it was a great honor for my uncle to be sang a song at his burial by the great Cajun musician D. L. Menard.
