I thought I'd share a few minutes with the boys as they goof off for a bit. It's always interesting to see how they play and what they do.

Thank you for sharing! It's always a delight to watch them.. Roni seems to prefer the boys'"company apart from Lena (when the girls are in). In the winter Luke and Wildie are the same color but now with their summer coat, Wildie is lighter.

So Bear does that mouthy play every time . Especially when we lead him . So what is the appropriate correction? Bear finally keeps walking on the lead . He doesn’t stopped like he use to . But this is a challenge each time . No matter how far the distance is with the lead rope , he will catch up and nip us . We seem to stop him faster when we can be next to him . IDK 🤷🏻‍♀️. Any ideas 💡 Laura 💜 Bear 🐴 💜

Stop walking the second he falls off cadence. Stop him, back him. Start again. You may not even get the chance to turn around to start walking and he is already creeping up. Check it there. Rinse and repeat until you can get take 5 to 10 steps ACCURATELY. Trust me, they all figure it out pretty quick. Don't be afraid to show frustration a little. You can swing your rope a bit, or wave a flag a bit etc. ALWAYS when he does what you want, reassure and pet him. Start from zero and go again. This is monotonous and repetitive but it works really well.

Horses have nice sweet breath mostly so I guess yawning at your buddy isn't a big deal? However today, a new old horse came up and oh dear his breath was far worse than horse poop. I notice some old horses don't smell lovely, their coats aren't fresh etc but this one takes the cake. I can't help wondering what it means? We still petted him btw. He can't help being old and stinky.

Usually a sign of tooth root and needs dental care
@AL-lz1hb
@AL-lz1hb 2 жыл бұрын
@@StableHorseTraining mm they have a lot of old skinny horses that fail to improve. I've wondered if they check teeth, or do it often enough. Can't remember how often we used to do teeth but for oldies, isn't it oftener? Six months between hoof trims isn't unusual there so I do fear teeth, and sheath cleaning for the boys isn't done on a standard calander basis. Maybe only if it becomes obvious to someone that they need too. So frustrating! Is this a good topic for a video? Noticing when care needs doing and /or ensuring owners have each horse on a maintenance program? The more people talk about good practice, maybe there is a chance fewer horses will face neglect through ignorance?.

btw, was watching random stuff and stumbled upon an old video and i remembered u had one fresian horse once, was thinking u might wanna see this, kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGO4Z6CtgM11iZo his name is Frederik the Great and a few years back he was voted as worlds most handsome horse :D anyhow, just wanted share some beauty with u, hope u enjoy it :D
@StableHorseTraining
@StableHorseTraining 2 жыл бұрын
hmm... I'm afraid I don't see beauty in what they are doing with that horse nor it's current condition of bordering on obese. The threat of the whip and response of the horse shows it's seen the end of that thing a few times.... Sorry.. I don't know who votes in these things but it isn't based on a horse looking happy I don't think. Shiny and long hair I guess.

Freisians are beautiful but this one is over weight. Stallions should be an athletic build and the mares are heavier set

@@StableHorseTraining Well am no expert in horse behavior, i saw the whip but also saw she was using food rewards but again, i do not see response to whip as i am no expert, therefore i cannot read signs, my knowledge is not enough to tell differences, and yes he on the chonk size and i do believe as well he should be a lil more light than what he is. I like fresians bcs of the way they look, canter and trot, i think they very elegant and majestic, also from what i red, their character is very nice as well, they are gentle giants.

ok, no problem, right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGO4Z6CtgM11iZo where he kicks out at the girl in the corner as she had advanced on him while carrying a whip. He kicks out as a natural defense mechanism as he knows what is coming. Not his "first rodeo" so to speak. He's not running around out of desire, it's worry and anxiety.
