I bought my hubby some bees wax hair product but it was so stiff...I sometimes put a bit of coconut oil or argan oil in his hair and decided to mix some of the oils with the bees wax product...it softened it enough to both moisturize and style the hair....I also sometimes add tea tree oil to the mix when his scalp feels dry and recently bought some sheabutter to make up some creams. have a good collection of Essential oils now for both fragrance, health, skin, hair, so i can mix some things up. funny, when he had a beard we never really thought about using styling product on it..basically would just try to moisturize the skin. I'm kinda invested in his grooming because I'm also his primary caregiver so I am usually the one finding the these things and also applying them as well. He had a brain aneurysm and was left in a wheelchair with also some memory issues that go along with brain injury...so thats why I'm checking info out instead of him.

I am so loving the Utility Balm. I love Spiced Citrus and Four Vices. I find what works best for me is to use Beard Brand beard oil after morning shower and again at night after a face rinse. Then the next day I use the beard brand utility balm after morning shower and then the beard oil after a face rice at night. The balm is so good fir my tattoos on my arms and shoulders along with my head. I shave my head w/no guards closed every other day n use the utility balm after a head shave. I do not feel right if I do not have 2 Utility balms jars and 2 beard oil bottles at my house at all times. Always have Spiced Citrus and Four Vices.

Your best bet would be to alternate - use oil early in the day and balm at night, or oil one day and balm the next. They're both conditioning agents - the balm being slightly more of an intensive condition - so you don't need to use them together, but mixing it up is definitely something worth trying. -Zach

I've been using the Tree Ranger Utility Balm and it is one of my favourite beard products of all time. It manages to tame my coarse hair beard, and hydrates the skin underneath better than even my favourite Beard Oil. It also is great for overnight, and tames some stray hairs. Best beard product I've used so far

I'm growing my beard for the first time. Your videos are a big help! I'm just curious, but will there possibly be a Tree Ranger and other scents scalp shampoo and conditioners? It just depends on your moisturizing needs. Since Beard Oil is absorbed faster into the hair and skin, it's great to use out of the shower, before styling. The Utility Balm offers more conditioning and versatility of use on your skin, ends of your hair, as well as your beard. It doesn't hurt to use them both. -Randa

Ya man, we've been working on this product a while to get it exactly like we want. While I haven't tested every alternative on the market, I noticed some balms were very gritty, or hard, or had a weird texture. We wanted something more on the creamy side of things that is lightweight and conditioning. I think we nailed our goals.

I see some have asked this, but does it really replace beard oil? I mean, I've always thought beardsmen swore by beard oil. I'll try this when the gold line comes out. We do indeed use only the best in all of our product lines, however with the Gold Line we have no limitations on the amount of essential oils we use when it comes to the fragrance, and no budget restrictions when it comes to sourcing the ingredients, hence the slightly higher cost of the product. -Zach

I use the Old Money Beard Oil twice everyday - its a part of my morning routine and also a part of might evening routine after my daily bath. This works great, but i tend to have a very rough and coarse beard in the morning, which i think is due to the fact, that my pillow grabs alot of my beards moisture during the night. My question is, if a utility balm might be the answer for this problem? Or is it to heavy for nighttime use?

If you have a longer beard, you can certainly use the oil and Utility Balm at the same time. You can use the styling balm in your beard, but it is a bit heavier of a product and if combined with oil or utility balm, it might make your beard feel weighed down. -Parker

Now can you use both the balm and oil together? My normal routine is after work I take my shower, shampoo my beard and what not, blow dry it while running a bristle brush through it to make sure the air gets everywhere to dry it, oil it up and using a beard comb I work the oil in very fine with what my hands can't do, then I use the balm and comb that in too. would that be a healthy routine?

Would be better not to blow dry your beard and apply oil on towel dried beard so you lock up the moisture. Wait a while until the oil dries and then apply a bit of balm.

We would recommend using one or the other, as they both are primarily doing the same thing and acting as conditioning agents to keep your beard healthy. The balm is a bit more intense than the oil, so you can alternate days or even use one early in the day and another later at night after a shower or rinsing the beard! -Zach

Kennia Lopez hey what's Up? I would recommend thst if he is going for a longer beard, or has a lot of hair that needs to he "tamed" I would purchase utility balm and oil. Personally I used to keep my beard at 3/8 of an inch and beard oil and a boars bristle brush kept it in check, now I am growing it out and if he is as well I strongly recommend u get both. Anyway hope u enjoy his beard!

I literally just came back from target today 10/8/2021, because I wanted to smell the Lumber Jack products I discovered yesterday online and the smell is like white water paint. The utility balm is grainier than grains and the sea salt lumberjack spray smells like watered down white out (white paint- the same). I love BeardBrand but this product and the weird smell is hurting their business. I’ll stick to my old money even though it costs a bit more. Anyway, seriously 😒 Lumber Jack smells weird and I smelled like 4 different tubs to make sure it wasn’t a bad tub of utility balm.

I just got some of this utility balm. I got the lumber one. I'm not a fan of this stuff.. it is very "greasy" and smells bad...if you don't really work it in, it is clumpy.. I much rather use beard oil. The oil absorbs way better and I think oil is a better beard product. With the utility balm The biggest problem is smell, second is greasy.. If I put the balm in my beard in the morning and I kiss my lady later I the day, this balm is all over her face. It looks like i haven't washed my beard with that stuff in.. I won't be buying it again. I'd rather have oil.

Beardbrand, about a nickel size into my palm rub together warm it up. Then apply to beard. Only in morning. I used it for a week and stopped using it. It leaves my face really greasy. I shower in morning but by bed time I have to wash my beard out with a shapoo before bed or it gets all over my pillow..I much rather use a oil it absorbs better and feels better for me. I don't have this problem with oil. And I don't like the lumber balm smell.my girl didn't like it too for same reasons.

Oh bummer. I basically said it's not the amount of ingredients but specifically the fragrances we go with. The gold line has exotic and rare oils that we use which drive the cost up. For instance, our cannabis oil isn't cheap! But base ingredients are the same between lines, but formulation percentages and ingredient list may differ.
