Does anyone know what sly has done to his beard ? Down through the years of me following beard brand he was always the person working at beard brand who had a patchy beard, but now it looks full and thick, I have a patchy beard and I’ve let it grow for 2 months and it’s pretty much all filled in, in most areas, my cheeks have a small bit more to go so any tips on how to help them are appreciated 😁👍

@robwalsh1322 Hey, it's Sly at Beardbrand! Thank you for the comment. I think age and genetics are the biggest contributors. Over the last year, I've also really locked in on exercise (strength training), nutrition (prioritizing protein), and sleep optimization (8 hours of sleep daily). I'm also working on a project where I'm taking oral minoxidil. I think that's also making a small contribution to the overall outcome as well. If you're two months into growing your beard and it's patchy, keep going. When you have a patchy beard, you must commit to the journey. Depending on how patchy our beard is, 6-8 months of growth might give you a good outcome. Happy to chat more about this topic anytime. -Sly

@@Beardbrand Hi Sly, ya age definitely influences beard growth, in the past whenever I’ve attempted to grow a beard I always trimmed my neckline and even though your supposed to do that, from growing it out this time I’ve realised I don’t need to trim it at all as my natural neckline sits right in the place where people would normally trim, I’ve never trimmed my cheeks as that’s the problem area for me so I generally leave them alone, so what I’ve done this time is just let my beard grow wild for the last 2 months and done no trimming, apart from my moustache to stop the ends of it going into my mouth I’ve looked into oral minoxidil aswell, did you get any side effects from it ? And how long did it take to see results ? I’d go for the oral one over topical as it’s easier to manage because I use pomade in my hair Ya I’m going to keep going, my beard is pretty much all full except for a small area of my cheeks between my sideburns and the corner of my lip, hopefully that will fill in over the next month or so, thanks for the advice 👍😊

It's true about men not changing their style all that often. Aside from a few years with a moustache in the 80s my dad was always clean shaven. For 30ish years he always looked the same, aside from his hair going white. A few years ago we finally convinced him to give a beard a try, and he absolutely loves it. He's gotten nothing but compliments for it. It suits him so well. One thing I really love about this channel is the way the main guys all regularly try hugely different looks. I think guys should do it more. It's certainly gotten me to be more daring. I'm somewhat limited since I don't grow a good beard and my hair is thinning quite badly. But I give it a go! I've taken breaks from just shaving my head every so often. And I can at least grow a fantastic moustache! I'm on my way back to that right now!

I really enjoy trying different looks. The hard part is when you've been changing it up for 10 years, you run out of new styles to try without doing something incredibly radical. So you end up just cycling through things. Appreciate your support and kind words! Keep on growing! -Eric

I'm not a youtuber so take this for what it's worth, but I think a problem with how the "makeover" videos are performing is that there's nothing in the thumbnail that makes it obvious this is a makeover video, and the written description only loosely connotes it. So, you're only getting the traditional Beardbrand subscriber who subscribed for barbershop videos and you're not getting the makeover crowd who'd really like to watch. Somewhat related, I think the thumbnails where there's large, cartoonish font are a little obnoxious in the abstract, but it does seem like they work. A picture of just somebody's face without much more eyecatching is easy to scroll by in my subscription feed. Case in point, I didn't watch this video until a few days after it was posted, and I like the makeover videos.

Dude looks good! Question: Can having a beard prevent one from securing an office type job? I have a beard.
@Beardbrand3 ай бұрын
Not likely in 2024, especially if it’s well groomed.

I would say that it depends on the management & location of the company, but I do agree that a well maintained beard is more welcome than it used to be. Good luck!
