Funny thing I’ve discovered about those genetically bare areas under the corners of the bottom lip is that when I grow the beard out long my soul patch completely covers those bald spots…making it appear that I actually have hair growing in those areas . Never underestimate how the soul patch can help your beard out. Remember that the beard has a way of compensating those weaker areas if you let it do its natural thing of growing and evolving. 😬

I have a THICK, well straightened and groomed beard as an Indian living in Europe and I have been on the receiving end of both sides of the spectrum- I've had people compliment me for the beard and I've had people claim that it "gives the locals, especially the women, anxiety". I don't waver. I like my beard and I wear it with pride. But I'd be lying if I said that it hasn't hurt my chances of finding places to rent.

I love how my facial hair looks! It takes a little while to fill in but from how black my facial hair is , it starts to look good around the 5th or 6th week. I’m 24 and I would definitely say in the last 3ish years I’ve noticed I’ve started to get some white/ silverish hairs in my facial hair and I’ve embraced it. The first time I noticed a few I was very interested and surprised! I like them and they add more character to my beard. I love beards! They’re such a cool and unique thing!

Thanks for bring around Eric. Just iver 4 months nos shav8ng and I love my beard. Thick and full with a mustache whichauomsically form nice gsbdke bars. Being 62 I struggle with accepting the gray color in some areas. Moustache, chin and sideburns salt and pepper. Cheeks grey. Sometimes prefer light dye. Aplly once a month. Happy with it. I recognise the insecuritues, but the besrd grows me. It lifts my self esteem.

Thanks for the timely video and great advice on embracing, accepting the guy looking back at you in the mirror. I’ve been blessed, I think, with a good looking beard and the salt n pepper years have been acceptable. Eric, my skeletal structure is a hard one for me to deal with and I frequently have to realize God created me this way and rather than get worked up over it accept it and be happy. Great video. Hat looks good on you bro!

Regarding the first point about it patchy beards, I taught I had a patchy beard, in the past when I’d attempt to grow a beard I used trim my neckline after 2 weeks which is commonly advised, this time around I stopped doing that as trimming my neckline always made my beard look thinner, I’m lucky enough that the place where my natural neckline grows to is around the point where you would usually trim the neckline so I didn’t do it Back to my advice though for anyone who thinks they have a patchy beard, let it grow and do not do any trimming for 3 months, this is what I did and I was amazed at the results, my beard looks similar to Eric’s in the video at 4 and a half months growth except for the mustache and the colour, the hair on my cheeks near the sideburns is still a bit thinner but once it’s long enough it can easily be blended into the longer hairs and when grown out and it’s not noticeable, the best thing to do is not trim or shave any lines into it and let it grow wild, I will never shave again and I plan on keeping a beard for the rest of my life, just let it grow 👍

Many men do not allow time for the hair to grow many think it is pathy until a good months growth! I have issues with curly hair and like a nice neat beard! Cutting it can take time and a lot of patients!

I understand the struggle of facial hair and racial stereotypes. You’re spot on with tip of keeping it well-groomed. People can really tell, and it does make a difference. Some people will still be jerks, but that’s life.

How can i grow my beard longer. My beard is like 3 years old. I never shortened it. But it basically stuck at a certain length. What to do?

That seems like genetics. Less likely but possible is nutrition problems.

Higher quality hair dryer that dries quicker using less heat will help. Want to be relatively quick with the heat and not over do it. Be sure to blast it with a cool hit if it's getting too hot. I apply Utility Balm before styling too to help keep the hairs moisturized. -Eric

I have had mine for 10 months and I know I will like the 5 month length onwards, any less and I can see the patches on one side. As long as its not too patchy/ thinning then I would say to grow it out to its terminal length and along the way just note on your phone when you like the look and when you hate it.

Sounds like you hit terminal beard. That's genetic in most cases, but sometimes the environment (like needing to wear masks) or a poor diet can cause breakage. My cheeks stop growing pretty quickly and only get to 1" of length or so. The front of my chin will only hit about 2 inches. -Eric
