We got a Beardie when he was abandoned. He immediately took to our home. He was such a cool dog. We said goodbye to him last spring. I still feel the hole in my chest. Will have another!

I would also add that they love water, mud and will also roll in cow pats given an opportunity (supposedly females exhibit this behaviour most). As an example of the beardie sense of humour, when fully soaked they will try to get as close as possible to people or soft furnishings before a shake. (Mine did anyway.)

They have two, character traits I have seen in three generation that lived on a Highland croft. 1, they can detect mice in long grass and will pounce like a cat after studying it's movements. 2, they like getting 6-8 foot long branches, they toss them around until the branch rests on their necks, then they get their front paw over the branch, and try to snap it as though it was a deer leg. All three displayed the same action, and it made me wonder........🤔........

My big brown bouncing baby beardie boy Buckley would go crashing through wooden fences in CA chasing the neighbor's cat and then get stuck on the horizontal piece there where his legs didn't even reach the ground and so my daughter and I had to go and extricate him off of there. A very mischievous dog, he would open sliding doors and drawers, steal 16 oz jars of my Eucerin creme I used everyday once we moved to Las Vegas, hide them in the closet, unscrew the lids, and then clean the entire things out!! Then he got to spend the next day out in the heat all day while filling our backyard with all these giant white cow plops!!!

Continuing on about Buckley, ahem, he also just LOOVED liquid fish emulsion fertilizer!! I had a whole gallon of that stuff I carefully kept up very high. When we moved to Vegas I kept reiterating this caveat to my husband. He said Yeah, of course he would keep it off the garage floor since the dogs had to go through one doggie door and then through the garage to get outside! Welp, he forgot and so one day we came home to find that Mr Buckley had co-conspired with our corgi mix and dragged that plastic gallon of stink through the doggie door and then sat it down in the middle of our brand new living room carpet in order to enjoy a nice snack of it!

Continuing on about Buckley still, he totally loved to herd certain things although not the same things as my first bitch who was really wound up! Buckley loved herding water fountains the mostest and these were pretty easy to find in Las Vegas including the one coming straight up out of our hot tub! This would set him off like nobody's business and then his bark was so loud I obviously was glad my neighbors weren't particularly close. I would let him do that on days where they weren't able to go out and such for his thrill of the day naturally. Then when I used to try and take him to the dog park, I finally just had to give that up since he would go around herding all the other male dogs there who then would misinterpret his herding behaviors as aggression and get so ticked off at him he would end up defending himself in fights all the time! What a goofball character he was .... but really what he liked to do most was to be a big "lean-on" dog as my son used to call him which about is what it sounds like. When you were on the floor with him, needless to say he would be climbing on your lap and rolling all over you. Not to mention moaning and groaning just for the pure joy of bodily contact with his favorite species, human beings. 😂😂❤❤❤
