What he's saying about not only watching his video is a noble gesture, This is the first video I'm watching by Radiant Reptilia & I'm not saying anything here is incorrect but I had 3 sources of information plus googling when I had a dragon because I wanted him to be as comfortable, well fed, and happy as I could allow. You can always find book sources and if you can't find a book source at least watch multiple videos plus try to find some information on more than one website to cross check info. A lot of the issues with exotic animal care, well, aside from carelessness in certain cases, is due to drawing off of incorrect diet or other information and then the animal may be suffering! which none of us want for them.

This is the best bearded dragon care guide I've seen on KZbin. I think more info on the nutrition of foods could be included, because people don't do their research and really need to be spoon fed information. You could do a whole care guide on insect feeders people keep and buy, especially for bearded dragons since they can eat pretty much every insect (when the size of the dragon is right compared to the insect). I also wish KZbinrs would include the Ca:P ratio information on food, it's a huge factor second to UVB why the diet is complicated. I love bearded dragons. I love them all and want to see them all given the best care

Honestly 4x2 is a minimum imo tho, and I highly recommend a front opening vivarium because they often feel threatened when approached from above. 😬 I LOVE YOUR SUBSTRATE RECCOMENDATION! LOOSE SUBSTRATE IS NOT A DEMON DAMMIT. my beardie looooves to dig I could never have him on tile or such It seems so unfair. 🤷🏼♀️ Also about the soaking! That's how I do and prefer it as well. Trimming claws is unnecessary and if they do overgrow you just need more for them to scratch them on. About the temperament... Mine is an asshole even tho I've worked with him every day since he was a baby lol. Overal a great care video!
@RadiantReptilia5 жыл бұрын
Hey Shannon, thanks for your reply. Glad you agree on my thoughts regarding loose subs! I hear you on the 4x2s, and I do think that's definitely an essential for any dragons over 15 inches, but I have seen smaller ones thrive in 40Bs. I know it's a touchy subject, and that's just my opinion, and at the end of the day, bigger is always better!

I started with a 20 gallon, moved to a 40 gallon and now I'm making him a 4x2x2 because I like to give him extra space! I like your opinion on substrate as well, I use a topsoil and play sand mix, it's nice to see that you arent hardcore on the whole paper towel only approach! My beardie is on paper towel right now due to pinworms and he refuses to go on the bottom of his tank right now. Mine never drinks out of his water bowl, he gets all his hydration from his food. I have my beardie at 115, personally I think they can get up to 130. Mine definitely likes his at 115. My beardie still wont eat salads regularly, he gets insects twice a week but he refuses to eat any salad anything except raspberries. I feed mine mainly superworms and dubia roaches. His salad is usually varied too, he just doesnt like his greens! Hes at a good weight though so I dont worry. I use repashy calcium plus and it's an all in one. He gets it sprinkled on his bugs and he gets everything he needs. I love that you dont soak your dragons either!!!! They dont typically need it!!! I file mines nails with a dremel, he enjoys it and there is no risk of losing a toe. I love my beardie and I'm super passionate about his care and how others care for theirs. I like your views on everything! I hope you keep making videos

My baby bearded dragon has always been a poor eater since I got him 3 weeks ago. I’m making sure his enclosure is set up correctly and he still is not eating. He would only eat about 4 small crickets a day and now he’s not eating anything at all. He just ignores the crickets. He never liked mealworms and I can’t have Dubias cuz I live in FL.

My beardie is in shed right now and doesn't want me to even get close to him, he's about a month and a half old and I've had him for almost 3 weeks now, he doesn't eat as much as everyone said babies eat, but the fact he's shedding his whole tail right now and shed part of his face a few days ago says he's growing, so that's good enough for me, I'm also hoping that my 2 UVB CFL lights are sufficient for the moment since the t5 ho are expensive and I'm still buying stuff for him, the enclosure, stuff to breed my own mealworms and dubias ect, one of the UVB lights is 24 watt 10.0 and the other is 13 watt 10.0, the small one is from when I bought him and the little tank and the big one came with the 40 gallon enclosure I bought him the next week, and when I found out they aren't powerful enough I've had both running hoping it will be enough for a couple weeks, I've already been spending quite a bit lately on him, I spent almost $200 just the day I took him home with the cost of him too, then another $200 on enclosure on sale, and $50 between the 2 mopani wood logs I got for him among supplements calcium with and without d3 and a multivitamin, so I gotta give my wallet a break if I can, and I still gotta get him in to the vet, I found one in the area that specializes in birds and exotic animals, they are booked a week to 2 weeks out and that'll be another $100, so if I can hold off on the t5 UVB light I'd prefer to so I can get other things taken care of first, I wasn't prepared, but I'm willing to do what it takes, this is my first reptile, wanted one for a while tho, but I've already read about 3-4 different care guides online as well as watched about 6-7 different people's guides on here and more, next I'm going to start looking into a bioactive set-up, but I've heard it's not really safe for hatchlings and better to let them get 6 months or so before going with a loose substrate, but I've just been making sure I've got everything else down before moving to the more advanced setups

Anyone else’s dragon not like any fruit and only some greens occasionally? Mine is so picky! She’ll taste her greens but all she wants is worms. I mix them in with veggies so she can accidentally get some greens while trying to catch her worms, but a lot of the time she waits till they crawl to the top of the greens 😩 I had a beardie for 10 years before I got her a year ago and he ate everything, so this is new to me. She’s a little over a year old. Will she grow out of this stage?

I’ve heard that you shouldn’t use water bowls because the heat lamps may evaporate the water which will increase the humidity so the dragon may get too hot. I would recommend misting the vivarium or just spray it on to the actual dragon.

@RadiantReptilia5 жыл бұрын
For heat, really all that matters is getting the temp up to the right level. If the mercury vapor bulb is bringing it up to 100-115, then no need. If it's not enough to get it that warm, I'd add the second light, and put them on a thermostat.
@figuresix5 жыл бұрын
Great advice, but I do not agree with substrate.. BD require low humidity and using topsoil, or even some use coco fiber it holds to much moisture and can cause respiratory problems. I personally use Tile, non sticky sided linoleum (for my bd who has severe mbd and can not walk) and repticarpet/Turf. I know some say repticarpet is bad because it hold bacteria, but i clean daily, and wash it once a week.

I’ve been hearing so many different things about water bowls I’m confused. “Don’t use it because it makes the terrarium to humid. Spray them and their food for them to drink” and “use a water bowl” ??? I live in the Netherlands and I don’t think it’s as humid as in America but it’s just so confusing. Should I put a bowl in anyways? I’m getting one soon and I want to do it good from the start. The terra we got is 100x50x50cm I have no clue about the inches. Later on I want to get a 120x50x50 or 60 however we’d need some extra space for that
@RadiantReptilia5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking! I’d do a water bowl anyways. If your enclosure is ventilated enough it won’t trap the humidity inside Most of my dragon enclosures have not lid or strictly screen lids for that purpose.

Radiant Reptilia hey, I’m picking up my bearded dragon Wednesday. I have a tempex box but it’s really (really😂) big so I’m putting some newspapers or blankets (if blankets would be ok) to keep the box where she’s in from shifting and a heat pad on the lid of the tempex box. Obviously the box where she’s in has air holes however do you need to make holes in the tempex box? I heard that you didn’t need to.
