Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation. I was on the 'stroke' floor of the hospital for a week and in with a lovely woman who'd really suffered. I assisted her as much as she needed as there just isn't enough nurses to help all the patients in a busy hospital and I know it made this woman feel less alone. I never realized how scary strokes can be until I got the results back from my MRI. I fractured my neck in an accident back in March. It was small so the hospital just let it go. Recently, I had an MRI done. Apparently my neck was more than fractured. I injured a part of my neck that can cause strokes. I was instantly put on medication to try to heal my neck. For months I have been this ticking time bomb. The fact that my neck is still injured is scary alone but being told I can have a stroke at any moment was even more scary. Your charity work is amazing. I know you do it every year for you dad. It just never hits home for people of how important it is until it becomes personal for us too. Happy holidays. Stay safe and keep doing all the good you do.
@toportime12 күн бұрын
Wait, you had a fractured neck and a hospital was like "Just walk it off". Please tell me where you live so I can never go to that place.
@emilyplewes781711 күн бұрын
@toportime I live in NY. Hospital was Weschester Hospital. I was rushed to their trauma unit. It was the worst hospital I have ever been to. I arrived in a neck brace. Before running any test they took it off and asked me to move my neck. (Which it hurt and I could barely move because of how swollen it was). I managed to move it slightly so they said, oh! You're good! And kept the neck brace off. They messed up my allergies when I was there and refused to change them. They refused to put my real name in the system. (I was booked in as a Jane doe even though I had ID on me. I just was unrecognizable because of my accident). The hospital staff were rude and irritated whenever I would ask for things. (I was in pain and bed ridden. I had to keep calling my mom to call the hospital just to use the restroom. My mom lives in PA. Not NY). Overall, worst hospital ever. They didn't run many test on me because of the extent of my injuries. But once I got out no test wete ran and there wasn't anything in their system about my accident. I had to go back in due to an infection. (My second time was much better due to a really kind nurse). But this nuse had no idea what i was treated for previously. She only knew about my infection and why I was there at that time. My frature did heal (i got an xray done later on) but there was something else wrong in my neck from the fracture. (I forget what the neurologist said it was called). But it is caused by trauma to the neck. The only time I had trauma to my neck was the accident. My accident was bad. I was riding my bike when I fainted on my bike going down a hill. I flew over my handle bars into some rocks where I was found. (I don't remember any of this but due to medical test, police detectives, and my medical history, this is what happened. I now have to contend to the fact that my neck is still injured and I am a ticking time bomb until it isn't. (Meaning i can have a stroke at any time). So it's a bit scary. I'm hoping I don't. So far I've just taken the meds and I will be getting another MRI to see if I'm healing up in January. (This is at a different hospital thank goodness). But I do not recommend Westchester Medical Center if you can help it.

What a cool way this was to vicariously experience the Leeds Christmas Market. I will never get to go there, myself, so it was amazing to wander around it with you guys, sampling all the treats. Thanks for a great year of food and podcast content, from all of you. Happiest of all the holidays to everyone involved, and everyone watching.

As a Canadian I can testify the guy's poutine looks 300% legit ! Just when he said there's nothing worse than going to a place and they serve you poutine with Mozza, he got me. I was served that muddy crap poutine way too much in Montreal and Calgary OR they put the cheese curds at the bottom so you still end up with a bowl of mud.... But that guy, he knows! 💯👏👌
