We’ve been fading since 2021 and my husband grew his beard since then! I love it it really looks good on him! One day we visited His TJ uncle and before he asked how we were- he frowned and said: what’s with the beard? My husband answered: nothing, it a beard- besides the Bible doesn’t say you can’t wear it! He replied: that doesn’t dignify Jehovah! This past Monday, my husband visited him again- his uncle was totally unaware of the new beard policy. So my husband asked him, can you repeat what you think of my beard? His uncle said: it doesn’t dignify Jehovah and it looks worldly! My husband showed him the Update #8. After seeing it he smirked and turned to my husband: well it doesn’t look that bad on you!😳 My husband said I’ve been explaining you this for 2 years now that’s the Bible doesn’t prohibit beards for 2000 years now! and in 20 mins you switch your opinion so quick? He answered: the society is accepting it and they are Holy Spirit guided. My husband said: oh so you follow men that you don’t even know their names and I’m your nephew, you know me and you were judging me all along? His answer: 🤷🏽♀️well, didn’t you hear him? besides you had to wait for Jehovahs time!! It’s crazy!!

@@melissacooper8724 You may have never been a JW, but You've got an accurate insight into Exactly What's Going On (compared to those actual JWs involved). Wherever WT Org has differed from General Society, is usually based upon their own ludicrous attempts to uphold (what are two huge red flags of actually being a Cult🤔): "Superiority Complexes" (Thinking They are More Worthy and Knowledgeable than Everyone Else) and an "Us vs Them Mentality" ( They need to appear Unlike Everyone Else in their Daily Lives and Behaviours and Somehow Uniquely More Desirable because of those attributes). I had an Elder come to our house with his own letters printed about appearance standards within the organisation that he'd made up himself, with no scriptures to back him up. This elder had always looked down on and judged me and my family. He took great pleasure in removing all of our privileges (being allowed to help out at the kingdom hall on mics and sound, being removed from the theocratic ministry school and giving bible readings and number 3 talks. He's a vile person, and also was the most powerful elder in our hall. The rest of our elders didn't challenge this scumbag. For the longest time, me and my family felt internally shunned, judged and excluded. And our crime was, me and my brothers having facial hair. Yknow, like every depiction of jesus and his disciples 😂 I left and went to another hall, and faced the same discrimination from a different body of elders. I finally caved to the constant pressure to remove my facial hair, and when I did, and elder paced straight over to me after the meeting had finished and said "welcome back brother. Now we can use you." I told him to to shove it up his arse. And that I didn't want to be used. Hugely satisfying to see him walk away red I'm the face with anger. I faced discrimination from the JW construction committees and was told I wasn't allowed to do any construction projects because of how I looked. (despite being a qualified electrician.) Didn't matter how many ministry hours I did, or how heartfelt my answers were. It didn't matter how many kind acts I did for the congregation. I didn't LOOK right and therefore was treated with contempt. Horrible prejudice behaviour. To see them U turn, take no accountability AGAIN, in spite of all their publications and illustrations subtly being anti beard, is just laughable. I am so glad I'm not subject to this lunacy anymore. I got sent this update from loads of my old jw friends and I told them all I couldn't care less anymore, I'm living my best life. Anyway just thought I share just some of my horrible experiences. If anyone else has experienced similar I feel your pain 😂

Every 3 days I shaved I would have hundreds of ingrown hairs on my face, jaw, and neck to the point is it was causing me pain. Escaped the Tower 10 years ago, after being captive for 12 years. DF twice couldn't see myself going back after last. I had always asked the beard question to the elders and WT, since they bugged me about my Law Enforcement career, carry a weapon, blood guilt potential, blah blah blah(34 years of service and counting). Yup, those 1960's rebels' beards hang on their faces, like banners of societal disappointment. It grows naturally like the real truth, breeds confidence and positive demeanor. However, the Tower preached it must be cut, and cleaned up, like the hopes of All JW's and friends. The Tower participants and captives can't go around looking like Russelites now can we Judge Rutherford. Now, 2024 The Tower has "Allowed" the swag of the beard to walk its hallowed halls of Bethel once again, but the friends better not say Shit!! because we know what's right for our sheepeople. Perhaps The Tower in another decade or two, may stumble in the "Truth" and find the Bible does not direct, condone or direct its organization to practice Shunning of its members family etc. This is a mind control method used and practice in cult entities and never has it been scriptural or decent on any level, but maybe just maybe, I might get my family back. WT leadership doesn’t do anything without a self serving motivation. I’ve seen the GB bend their own rules when necessary. For instance, there used to be the requirement for a DFd person to be reinstated at least two years before qualifying for special privileges, such as WT Bethel assignments. Well, on several projects we asked for extra leniency because of needing specialized video, computer, or building trades skills. Usually the GB would grant exceptions. In fact, in at least one specific case, they expedited the reinstatement of a guy who was still awaiting confirmation by his local BoE. So why the new beard rule change? It’s difficult to be sure because WT doesn’t publish membership demographics, but I’m willing to bet that there’s a shortage of “qualified” brothers overall and especially in certain countries. So by lowering the bar (prayerfully & just a bit), they have a greater supply. Thoughts???

Like the way Stephen Lett do a Bill Clinton (nodding while stating: “I did not have sex with that woman!”). At 14:50 SL rhetorically asks: “Is either reaction appropriate? and nods when answering: “Not really…”

Thank you for acknowledging Rutherford’s narcissism! I have been doing a lot of studying about the disorder and the more I learn about Rutherford, the more I see it in him. I wish I could get my mom to see this stuff, but she has her head in the sand. It’s such a shame that most JWs don’t know or care to know anything about the real history of the organization!

So the GB all but admits that they followed an unscriptural “rule” for not having beards. But now.. its okay because they found its not against scripture to have a beard.. well golly! No crap. I remember one evening about six years ago maybe seven, dragging all four of my children to the meeting after a long day at work, and I had a 5 o’clock shadow in the stubble on my chin and mustache were longer so it looked like I was growing a goatee I was taken in the back after the meeting and criticized stating that if I don’t come clean shaven that I could get my privileges taken away and that it has been noticed before by the elder body. Of course, they didn’t say anything about how hard I worked on getting all of my children, dressed and bringing them to the meeting by myself. Culty.. much

My ex grew his facial hair out. His brothers told him to shave it and he asked for biblical scripture for saying why. They couldn’t show him, so he kept his facial hair. He said every meeting they would say “we sure wish we could use you” so he gave up and shaved.

The question from readers made me think of another point in their hypocrisy, they say in black and white Jesus fulfilled the Law so that he could ABOLISH it and release the Jews from the Law, and they put Matthew 5:17 that states the complete opposite Jesus states there Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I HAVE NOT COME TO ABOLISH them but to fulfill them, he then says in the next verse heaven and earth would pass away before the Law does, i don't remember a time in history where heaven and earth passed away so if that hasn't happened how has the Law passed away.

As always, the best analysis of the subject... thanks I also hope that at least some JWs can see how man made this organization is. Somebody told me that is a little weird going to the meetings and seeing many bearded brothers, and I feel pity for them because all those grown adults need to have a "green light" from the organization to decide about something so personal and basic. I imagine them in their jobs with their long time work mates surprised and asking them why they now have a beard, and the brothers answering: "my church didnt let me grow my beard all these years but now it has allowed me to"

As humans, we have a tendency that we can never admit we were wrong about one thing, because if we can be wrong about one thing, our brain loses its entire concept of reality and we can become extremely skeptical, which in the modern world can be an interesting route to go, but in a primitive setting, you must be able to trust your senses, so our minds are very stubborn. Oftentimes, this concept is utilized in sales. Once a prospect has decided, and especially vocalized that he will refuse a decision (For instance: I will not buy this, today) High level salespeople know that at that point, they must change the decision you are presented with, so your mind can accept it and rationalize your choice. The organization does a lot of this as well, sort of eating their cake, but having it too, where they make these changes, but because of the "New light" concept, they always give themselves an out, for why everything else isn't wrong. It is an interesting thing from a human perspective, and ultimately a gross manipulation tactic. Sorry for ranting, but getting thoughts out into the world, whether it be a KZbin comment or a conversation with friends, seems to help as sort of a deconversion therapy, identifying tactics I've been manipulated by

There was a brother in my hall when I was young that had been in a car accident and had a really bad scar on his chin and neck. He grew a beard to cover it for a while and got a "talking" to about that. Even though his father was an elder himself and apparently didn't see an issue with it. Some of the other elders- no doubt one in particular- didn't like it so made a big deal about it. So ridiculous.
