It was noted that I was taxing w/o consideration of the wind and my stick placement. The wind was on the nose during start up, so I was neutral. Maybe could have been a little stick back. As I returned, there was a tailwind. I knew that and, not immediately, but eventually pushed the stick forward. A lot is going on as I am becoming familiar with my new bird. Even after receiving my PPL in 1987 and having previously worked as a CFI, I will never get everything right. But strive to try and be my best. Thank you for watching!

You need to get your CFI back in time for my build, LOL. So, after watching this and knowing im going to put 35" ABWs on, I want to devise a way of temporarily elevating the tail about 3 feet higher for taxi tests so I can see over the nose. Not sure I always want to use the Lindbergh reference. What if I could make it adjustable with an electric actuator!? I need to call Patey

@@FourthWayRanch You are completely right! I discussed the wind and stick placement in the video, but eventually edited that portion out. I'm always concerned about including what may be considered as "flight instruction". YT can take down those videos, but more importantly, there are certain legal liabilities that will need to be disclaimed and overall avoided. Thanks for watching!

I’m sure I’m not the only one out there that really appreciates the time you’ve put into making these videos. Thanks Rob!

Congrats on the next steps! One thing I will do on my taildragger if I ever get one, is put a camera feed to a screen so I can see taxiing.

Does the Dynon have a video port built in or does it need a separate module for that?

So did tilting the panel in the end give any better visibility? looks like the windshield lip is more of a limiting factor than the panel

Yes. I love the angel now!

Ok, your flight helmet is sick! I was tempted to do something similar with my A20s for my paramotor helmet. Did you make it, buy it, what did you use for ear cups fittings, etc? Looks great.

I can't believe your buddies put that cap back in there after you removed it just to mess with you. ;)

Yeah that's it! They did that! Thanks for watching!

Awesome intro!! How do you like the throttle position so far? And anyway you could talk about insurance for the test phase? Is it special in anyway? Unless your "self insured
@TheBaldPilot3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Throttle seems to work well! Insurance is so specific based your experience, ratings and currency. My insurance is about $3K per year. Hard to say what that would be for someone else?

Hey Rob, How is the Testing going? Warmer weather is almost here, time to fly. Are you close to FIRST FLIGHT?

Pretty much on hold waiting for the FAA to perform the Airworthiness Inspection. No indication when that will happen. In the meantime I have been taking Bearhawk Transition Training. Stand by...

The mixture knob all the way back to full rich.!!!!!!?
@TheBaldPilot3 жыл бұрын
All the way back would be lean, or full ICO. What you see here is the Lycoming starting procedure from the engine operating manual, then lean as need during taxi.
@j.muckafignotti42263 жыл бұрын
Big Fat Bastard Lycomings load up if you don’t “taxi lean” them. Mine was an absolute monstrosity. Three pumps on the primer, two or three blades, VROOOOOM, lean her back!

Only time in your life where it IS permissible and allowed to remove the "cap" to "oil" the intended target.. Other times, hmm, maybe not....
