I'm a metal-head at heart, but Elastica's debut album is one of my favorites from the 90's. All killer, no filler, on that one.

In my home country, someone covered this song and turned it into a farewell/apology letter. The lyrics I remember were: Waking up and breaking up have never been easy (which makes the ending line sadder: "Whoa-ooh-oh, I think you should go.")

I saw Elastica at the '96 Big Day Out, Melbourne Australia. They were great. One of the best!!

Elastica were huge in my opinion ,you look at the views they get and it,s sad they seem forgotten .They played so many big gigs seen., and seemingly adored by those in the crowds yet forgotten like so many other brilliant bands of the time .I suppose it was just our generation were all mums and dads now and with most they became serious adults ..not me i done the parent bit but rocked right through it and still will forever and the best thing they are grown ups now so all my time is my own .I never forgot my music and my genre is vast .And i hate seeing great music fade away .Elastica were and still are the bollocks ,,,except car song thats shit .

+billyblooboy It IS weird. Their first (brilliant) album was the fastest selling UK debut album ever at the time. I thought the second was nearly as good too and then nothing. I'm sure they'll be 'rediscovered' at some point. Well overdue.
@billyblooboy8 жыл бұрын
blackmore4 I believe the singer had problems with drugs which is a real shame but very common .But they did rock and most of the songs were nice and short too.
@FnlPrblm6 жыл бұрын
+billyblooboy +blackmore4 It wasn't so much the drugs or anything. They were caught ripping off sounds/songs off bands from years past (Connection was blatantly ripped off from a chart topping hit in England in the 70s). They didn't pay any royalties or get permission, so they got torn apart by lawsuits (like Vanilla Ice). The guitarist left. I saw a YT video where Justine had moved to Colorado and gotten an art degree.

Didnt know that . Thanks . Changed my opinion .@@Frank-or2ns
@chrisjames632711 ай бұрын
@@Frank-or2ns That's false. The music publishing company that owned The Stranglers albums sued them, and it was settled out of court. I believe Elastica gave them 30% of the writing credit. The Stranglers themselves couldn't care less, and didn't support the legal action - mainly because they themselves had borrowed sounds from bands they admired, and saw no problem with these homages

Just heard them for the first time on KDHX MO. Really like there intro and beat which carried momentum yet the attitude was interestingly laid back. After watching them open on Davis Letterman 1995 and seeing them here seems they might as well stayed in bed in 2000 for lack of energy or is it genuine enthusiasm.
