I got the x40 Max on Christmas Eve because my xTool D1 failed. This machine is a monster and seems far superior to the xTool product.

Mine arrived on the 23rd. But haven't had time to set it up. Still using the A5pro with an M100 laser

Excellent, you sold me. However, the A70 is coming out. Should I start there?
@TheClackShack7 ай бұрын
The 70 watt may be a good machine but I haven't got my hands on it yet. It also comes in an 850x850 but that is too much laser bed for me. I got the 500x500 coming.

Mine just arrived today! This set up instruction leaves something to be desired. Hopefully you’re putting out a tutorial. 😉

@@reedrobb It wasn't that bad. I think I had a bit of a how to on it in one of the videos.

Hi David, I got this beast the other day and man this one is a game changer. I was able to cut 1/2" (single pass) and 3/4" (2 passes) Baltic birch plywood so now the possibilities are once again endless. I am thinking dovetail drawers and small cabinets. I do have a question if you don't mind, did you set the air assist to M8 or M7 like the manual says. When I try to set to M7 I get some GRBL warning, and I am not bold enough to click yes so, I am trying to find out do I use M7 as the manual shows or M8 for the air assist? What did you set yours to in Lightburn? Thanks.

Mine is set to M8.

How do you feel the x40 compares to the lasermatic? I know the lasermatic is the better built machine, and better supported, but what about in terms of actual cutting and engraving performance? I can get the x40 pro (non max) with rotary for less than the 30 watt lasermatic without rotary. I have this crazy idea to use an old green mountain pellet grill I have to make an all metal enclosure. It’s the perfect size with a nice tall door opening, with enough depth to even possible build an adjustable table. So I don’t really need the lasermatic for the enclosure. Also considering the Acmer p2 33w

The Mk2 is a 30 watt but for most jobs, its only downside is the work area.

How did you get past how bad the head sags when trying to set the focal distance? I've been fighting mine for a month and couldn't even come close today when trying to engrave some pencils...this machine sucks. Upgraded from Atomstack 5.5w to the x40 max and been hating life since I spent $1300!
@TheClackShack7 ай бұрын
I have not seen any sag in the machine I have. You may wanna make sure everything is assembled correctly.
@markkendall73717 ай бұрын
@TheClackShack oh I've had the head off multiple times and made sure all the bolts on the x were tight but still sags...also when I grab the head there's up and down movement that I can't find the source of 🤬

Interesting, currently have an Ortur LM3 4 months old and having an issue with what I believe is the Y axis motor. Unfortunatly Ortur support is completely non responsive so I'm looking for another brand that supports their products. It would appear that Atomstack does, would you agree? Thanks
@TheClackShack6 ай бұрын
I haven’t had any issues with Atomstack but others experiences may differ. I haven’t had to get technical help on many machines.

Does the X40 Max have Lightburn Z-axis control? It doesn't seem the z-axis is motorized.
@TheClackShack9 ай бұрын
No, it doesn't.

How does this compare to the S1 in cutting ability, like what speed can they cut 3mm basswood
@TheClackShack9 ай бұрын
It is a tight race... It wins hands down on work area.
