Campaign idea: A dragon ogre sleeps underneth a town in some caves. A bunch of culists tries to wake him up. The players find a mystical tome with the lightning spell. In the climax the dragon ogre wakes up and promises to let the players live if they feed him lightning.

the only thing I'd say is make the storming of the hideout be a hush hush thing that the guards don't know about but the lord does. Because otherwise the solders can and will roll cannons down the streets to deal with this thing if they are able to run away Edit: nevermind, thought you said city, not town. any Empire town would have some things to deal with heavy hitters, but thats a ballista mounted on a wall, not cannons which can be moved

Ah, Dragon Ogres! The best Ogres, the Kings of Ogres and Dragons, before there were Ogres and Dragons! Those big monster things that Kibs would have fought if he hadn't wanted to fight the glorified Chaos Dwarf Manticore rip-off, that can fly. I don't know whether its a better or worst option, lol. Oh, speaking of walls, Arch. Kholek Suneater was larger than Praag's great walls, and his hammer smashed through them allowing Archaon's predecessor to just... walk on in. So some of the big boys can do more than climb!

Hm? I'm pretty sure the Dragon Ogres struck their deal cause they were dying out. The Dragons ruled the old World, and were mortal enemies of the Dragon Ogres. THe dragons are equal in age to the Dragon Ogres, and likely there are emperor dragons who match the age of the the oldest Dragon Ogres. It was said the Dragons ruled entire *Empires* and held court and battle among themselves not unlike the Kings of the Old World. Hence why the Dragon Ogres needed the Dark Gods to give them immortality. Heck the dragons even have the same Dreamscape, It's implied in some of the High Elf books that all the dragons are connected in the dreamworld and that they relish going there, so much so that mountains grow over them.

Their remains seem to not rot, a chunk of dragon ogre claw has been sitting out in the elements for millenia in a village in the empire and it hasn't deteriorated one bit and in AOS, they forge their weapons out of their own scales

I'm already confused. So the Gods did lie to them. They were promised they would never die, which they did. They were promised they would never stop growing and yet the current day Dragon Ogres are supposed to be much smaller than the first of their kind. That's also a really weird gift from Tzeentch. Of all the gods he'd be the one to grant them complete stagnation and decay.

The dragon ogres need a good lawyer, they might get out of fighting FOR the chaos gods. In staid, they could come (when calles) and fight their wars. Doesn't say what side however? If shalia or Myrmidia or another god feels like taking them under their wing I think some of them genuinely could get out of the dominion of Chaos. Or at least not be slaves to darkness, but go down swinging against the gods that cursed them

Inmortality as described here would include either never dying or reincarnating if they did for some reason died, possibly also regeneration, seems that the end result mentioned here Arch was making them "Eternal" not "Inmortal" as unable to die. Also are they reincarnated into the Chaos Wastes or Chaos Realm if they are killed? or could they actually be wiped out.

On the wall of every Guild Hall, Hiring Hall, Keep, Tavern, Dive Bar & Brothel is an illustration of the Dragon Ogre with a caption underneath that says "NOT to be F@%&ed With Under ANY Circumstances. Do Not Walk or Run Away. FLEE as if the very hounds of the Blood God are pursuing You. Ignore At Your Own Risk." And of course the warning is utterly ignored. But the Authorities sleep well at night in the knowledge that the terminally stupid will quickly remove themselves from the breeding pool at the first opportunity.
