Eggs are not actually her "children". The eggs that you eat are typically unfertilised, meaning that the hens that laid them have not mated with a rooster. If a chicken does not mate, then they lay an egg that has not been fertilised, which will never grow a chick no matter how much you incubate it. Like how in humans, human women who do not get pregnant simply have a period and the human egg just gets discarded. Typically, hens will eat their unfertilised eggs to recycle the nutrients, but we started to farm them and take their eggs. So if you consider these eggs to be children, then you'd consider a period to be infantcide.

I was always confused by this scene cause if she’s a chicken selling her eggs (which are unfertilized egg cells basically), why is Legoshi okay with eating them? Cause he cried over eating an insect which is probably the lowest creature on their totem pole 😅 (plus his pet is a bug). Does the beastars universe only consider it herbivore consumption after fertilization?

Well, it kind of makes sense, since an unfertilized clump of cells has never been alive, but it’s still made of meat. And the manga and show establish that predators do have to consume some kind of meat to survive, otherwise they get sick. A fan headcanon is that the reason they struggle with their instincts so much is that they physically aren’t getting enough, which is why the back alley market has to exist. According to Gohin the back alley market gets at least some of its meat from hospitals and stuff. Anyway, they made it seem like some extra source of meat has to exist, which is why fans found the manga ending, where the market just gets torn down with no further solutions shown, to be rushed and unsatisfying.
