11:40 I strongly disagree. I think the music choice was perfect for the scene. Riz, as he later confesses, romanticized he whole devouring and saw it as a beautiful bond between him and Tem. The whimsical feeling from the music reflects this. It's almost like we're seeing things from Riz's twisted perspective and it adds to the overall creepiness of the scene.

I can't necessarily speak for them not adapting Legoshi and Jack's backstory, but I do have a theory about them not adapting Gosha's reveal, and glossing over the aftermath of the fight with Riz. From what I've heard, the anime was originally picked up for 24 episodes over two seasons, making the ending of the Murder Solution arc the end of the anime's original run. I think it's likely that they wanted to wrap up the story they had as completely as possible, with little-to-no loose ends, on the off chance that the anime wasn't picked up for more episodes. I'm guessing that if it is, they'll adapt the aftermath more thoroughly as a flashback, though I can't tell what they'd do with the two backstory flashbacks.

My biggest gripe was that the ending seemed super rushed. Like, how Legoshi got out of being sent to Jail and him telling Haru he's leaving school. It seemed like the team wanted to save all the juicy parts for the first episode of season 3 to entice viewers in. The fight (and all of the last episode, really) was incredible, but that last scene felt so rushed. They straight up made the explanation stills with a voice over, which is fine, but it felt half-assed. Like they put all their energy and money into the fight. Overall I loved it. Can't wait for season 3.

Alright I never watched an anime before, I didn’t know what “manga” meant, and I haven’t watched an animated piece of media revolving around animals since I was a kid and I absolutely adore this show. I’m still not sure how I ended up watching it, but I’m glad I did. After season 2, I definitely felt like the overall story was unfinished, so I want and read the rest of the manga in like a day, and that was an experience for sure. Yeah, some things about this show are a little silly (especially if you don’t frequent Japanese cartoons), but overall I’ve loved this show so far. I really hope a season 3 (and possibly 4) come out to really tie the bow around this cool story.

Very great job on the dubs, script writing of this topic, and analysis on what people thought about. With the chapters being switched around actually helped it be more focused and centered on the Murder Solution Arc. And it was interesting to see Legosi getting his scar before the fur cut and the question if Legosi would have a fur cut in this season and how it would last. OST was good and I agree it should've been changed when Riz was hugging Tem. Perhaps slowed down or a drastic change to emphasize the turmoil Riz has dig himself in. Animation is very well done, voice acting, very stunning. I wish there was more time on the plot of Louis and Ibuki's relationship together, but with what we have now it helps us care about them as much. ^^ I think they didn't want to do a cliffhanger of Season 2 so we can focus on the finale. If it showed a cliffhanger, I believe it would drive away from the episode.

Though when the final episode had the Comet in the beginning, I was like "Oh my god YAAAAAAS!". Overall with what they had put in, I give it hmm perhaps a 8 out of 10. I'm still surprised they made Cosmo's breasts big. 👀 Damn thing caught me off guard. If you want me to discuss more about it, I don't mind doing so.

Thought this season was a lot more solid and interesting than season 1 even though it had more flaws. The murder solution arc was my favorite arc in the manga and it was adapted well. The only thing I disliked was how rushed the ending was, some Ibuki and Free stuff at the end, and that Legoshi wasn't alone when he came to the realization that he wanted to dropout. Honestly, I think the Gosha non-reveal makes a lot of sense, especially in the face of not knowing if there's going to be a season 3. Dropping this sort of bombshell of a possibility that no one knew was an option could've really overshadowed the Riz conflict. So getting into a thing that wouldn't get resolved in this arc, and having it be a constant thing you expect some explanation for, or more time devoted to, in a season that's already getting a lot of summarizing and editing anyway... would likely provide a massive distraction going into the final episodes. I think that's the kind of thing you'd need to really dedicate a whole arc into getting into, and if we do get a season 3, I'd much prefer it revolving around a lot of the Yahya/Gosha conflict, with Legoshi just stuck in the middle of it.

I'm an anime only and hearing you say they expanded more on Ubuki and Louie's relationship makes sense. I was really confused what Ubuki's motivations were and other anime-onlys also seemed confused about whether he genuinely wanted to eat him or if it was a suicide. I plan on reading the manga eventually, but I do hope we get a full manga adaptation. I didn't really like season 1's plot, but I really liked season 2 and now I can actually say I'm a fan of Beastars.

I really like your analysis. When it comes to the music, I agree that Beastars has an amazing soundtrack. I also agree that rearranging the order of the scenes worked. It helped the story to flow better. I was disappointed though that you didn't comment on Riz's theme or the music that plays when Riz and Legoshi fight both times. It's such intense and amazing music. I'm glad someone else commented on it. Also, I did miss Gosha as you and others did. However, I thought it was good that they didn't introduce Gosha yet, in case Studio Orange doesn't make Season 3. It would be messed up to introduce him and then not fully explain his significance. I'm hoping this will happen in Season 3. I agree with you and everyone that Ibuki's death was handled poorly. I was disappointed. I felt sad, just as I felt with the reading it in the manga, but it felt so rushed. Overall though, I loved Season 2 and I can't wait to see it with the English Dubs.

While I definitely liked the season overall, one thing that really disappointed me was the inclusion of Tem's diary. How so, you may ask? Because overall, it was a superfluous thing that could have been done without. But when I was first watching the season, I wondered if there was going to be a payoff with Tem's diary by having it so that when Legosi meets Louis while in drag, the wolf gives the diary to the mafia deer as extra incentive to come witness his fight with Riz. It would have been interesting for Louis to also read Tem's words about how carnivores have it rough, especially because I always thought Louis deciding to go to Legosi's side had too little buildup, and Tem's diary could have helped with that. After all, Louis was really hung up on Tem's death in the first season, and in the start of the 2nd season he left a note on Tem's memorial saying, "I'm sorry" as in, "I'm sorry I couldn't find who killed you." So Louis reading the alpaca's diary would have been a good payoff to all that. Sadly, that's not what happened. In hindsight, I wish they hadn't included the diary at all, along with the stuff involving Roger. That could have helped give them more time to devote to Ibuki's death scene.

Bro, your vids never miss. Just got done watching, and I gotta say your opinion is just about the same as mine. Though there were things in the anime I'd prefer to be different as a manga fan, season 2 was nowhere near short of PHENOMENAL!!! The animation was beautifully done, the voice acting was amazing, the OST Is unmatched with masterpieces such as Between the Soil and Skyline, I'm SIX EYES, LOUIS' Feelings (reliable boss), RIZ's cooking time (a song you didn't mention that I was hoping for lol) and everything else, was superb. While yes, it would've been nice if they hadn't focused so heavily on filler, especially since it would've made more time for other unintroduced characters like Yafya and Gosha, but even still with what was cuz out, it didn't take away anything from this season, and this is coming from someone who was pissed over the fact that Gosha wasn't introduced initially. But I later got over it and it hasn't changed my opinion on this anime at all. Even if the end was rushed and some scenes weren't as hard-hitting as the manga, they still kept me completely captivated throughout the show overall. Final opinion, I give season 2 a 10/10 even if it was flawed it was still so amazing and for the most part stayed faithful to the manga which was a great move. I'm glad it didn't turn out like The Promised Neverland Season 2 (ughhhhh). So with that said, loved the video, glad that it's finally out and I just your opinions so much man. I really hope they make a season 3 in the future.

In season 3 jack and legoshi meet, and the use of lions superstitions and mane hairs would be included, possibly flashing back to how ibuki knew his death was approaching Also the end sequence for season 2 delves deeper into luis and ibukis relationship, Although you would have to have read the manga to get why it's important.

So far I have only watched the Anime (I'm planning), and my only major issue with the story thus far has been how little we actually know Legosi. Who are his parents and what is his relationship with them like? We're told Jack is his best friend, but hardly shown it and just told they're drifting apart. It's nice to learn that the next arc will dive into that, though the revelation that it should've been touched on this season solidifies my only major gripe with the show thus far. (I had already had the fact that Legoshi's grandfather was a Komodo Dragon spoiled for me)

Honestly I kind of think that the 24 episodes idea wouldn't be great. They would be able to adapt everything accurately, sure, but you can read manga at your own pace. The set duration of TV means that slow dialogue and pauses can be very awkward, because you can't do the timing in your head. Beastars is already full of slow talks, uncomfortable silences, and lingering shots, and trying to stretch a season to 24 episodes would make it painful. I think that the ideal would probably be between 14 and 17 episodes, despite it being an unusual number of episodes, and I would still have a lot of the scenes cut out. Then like in the last episode, they have Lego get his criminal record, bring up Gosha because Legosi would think he had disappointed Gosha, and make the insecurity there be about how Legosi's life is going, rather than how it used to be. I dunno.

Also i'm glad they cut out the bull shit regarding him not being aloud to marry haru. That was rediculess and should have never been a plot point in the manga.

I don't comment often but i guess i want to share some of my opinions on season 2 as an anime only fan spoilers i guess *side note my comprehension isn't the best so some scenes where it makes sence to you probably didn't to me I thought the season was great appart from a few points first off i was slightly dissapointed that riz was the murderer, I was kinda expecting bill to be the murderer mainly bc he had plenty of memorable screen time during season 1 and he seemed fairly aggresive in most of them. I totaly forgot that riz existed before season 2, and putting such a big role onto a barely memorable character wasn't quite what i expected. second thought is that the first few episodes spend so much time and tension on trying to find the snake guy and he didn't reapear after that and i dunno, just feel a bit dissapointed? also i felt like the leopard and sheep scenes were a bit out of no where too? i wasn't quite sure what they were trying to do with it.

Also an anime only here, I kinda expected Riz being the murderer from a mile away. He just gave of the nice background character we''d least expect to actually commit the crime(for the twist). He had more speaking lines and he's the only other big guy in the drama club besides bill.

As someone who is a mostly an Anime Viewer (there is a few manga that I read which for examples being: Rave Master, Whispered Words, and a bit of Fairy Tail until I stopped reading and watching all together) and here is some of my thoughts: 1) Honestly, I didn’t mind Riz being the killer since both Bill (the tiger) and Riz made perfect sense however I felt like Riz had way less screen time compared to Bill and hell Bill felt like more of a villain compared to Riz, so if they wanted to make him a villain please make him more threatening (heck Cree from Codename Kids Next Door was more threatening and attempted to send kids to the sun than Riz. Ironically Cree is roughly the same age as Legoshi but one year younger than him based on the CKND wiki) 2) I can also agree that the first few episodes were bit way too slow and too much filler. Now I’m someone who doesn’t mind filler as long as it’s even out to the main plot but with this series for this season it’s well too much? Idk how to describe it. 3) I’m kinda mixed with the Sheep and the Leopard episode. I don’t mind it but I felt like it’s kinda out of place since with that episode it didn’t really do much for the rest of the season and I would actually enjoy it more if it actually help with plot or hell make it help with the final episode but that’s just my opinion. But overall, I think season 2 was really good! I hope if they make a season 3 could be as good or even better!

Hello! Manga before anime watcher here! Riz was going to be the murderer from the start. personally. i interpreted the murder, not much as an action, but as a portrayal of the world we are viewing. the murder, in my eyes, acted as a way to display the power dynamics in this world, and to demonstrate the greatest issues. Riz himself wasn't truly the villian, but rather the position he was forced into that allowed him to commit these acts. but, that's just my view :)) also, i do agree that the season jumped around a bit, and i was BEYOND disappointed at the snake. full episode worth of hype, and they act as a mcguffin. really cool character though.

Being an only anime, I actually very much enjoyed the arc tho having been also watching your vids and seeing some of the character stuff missed even while watching (I’m not a big carer for spoilers) I did have my sad points but I feel the done as best they could. Hopefully we do get a season 3 (Studio Orange deserves it + 3 more episodes a season) Plus I think not having Gosha while sad does work somewhat for the anime (especially if they knew they weren’t getting a third season) as it would more confuse the audience - especially if we don’t get the context and story behind such. However, I think he and Jaf can still be an amazing addition to season 3 and not just side character but the ones to start the season. Bring forward the arc where we see the two of them together and their desire to be Beaststar until Gosha becomes distracted by a very pretty wolf. It would be an interesting thing for non-manga readers to see what looks like an interspecies pair going about doing stuff and fighting together only to have it revealed that said old Komodo is the grandfather of the main protagonist as he arrives at the prison to take him home.

I really love Beastars a LOT and hope it gets a season 3 (and beyond). I really hope they fix the ending to the manga and pull an attack on titan season 3 where they just clean up some aspects of the manga and I hope attack on titan fixes its ending in the anime too but one can only hope. But that being said I also would want to see some SMT content from you one day as an SMT fan myself as that series just has a lot to it and it would help give more context to when you reference it in your videos as a lot of people didn't know anything about SMT. Most people just only know of persona 3-5 and nothing outside of that but I digress. It is just something to think about.

Great vid man, I missed your voice. I really loved S2, it added many little interactions and the fights were awesome. My only, and really my only problem is... the finale. My god, they cut, SO MANY things. It felt incredibly rushed. After watching the finale I felt kinda, odd. So I went back to read the manga and the pacing is completely different.

To be completely honest? I'm glad they didn't include Gosha this season. Think about it, in one of your past videos you even said that when he was revealed it was the only thing anyone was talking about. In adapting this to an anime, they have to keep things moving forward in a more cohesive way, focusing on one thing at a time. A reveal that big needs to be placed in a point where it can be fleshed out without another big plot point (like the whole training plot) taking focus away. It just makes more sense in my opinion to save it for a season 3 thing. Edit : that being said I wish they had teased it as an after credits scene.

I'd be pretty disappointed if they ended with season 2 Beastars really did help me motivate myself to write/plan out stories involving things like romance or the pressures of being born a certain way, hell one of my characters had to deal with the grief and trauma of causing his own lover's death by eating them. I'd be sad if they didnt finish it :/

Hes getting stronger for haru and because of haru 1 shes the one who triggered his instincts the most (there's a reason why they were never intimate) 2 she's the one who made him realize that he wants to protect herbivores

am i the only one not bugged by the lack of Gosha? I feel introducing him in the middle of an intense fight would have ruined the flow, cause you´re so invested in the battle. it works for manga to show it cause you read at your own pace,so you can sit there and take it in while looking at the page, but the fight in the anime needs to keep a flowing pace and showing goshas face at that point would´ve ruined it i feel. But that is subjective, and just my opinion! ( tho i agree the phone call should have been shown but not revealing gosha yet, just the voice. ) I´m fine with him not appearing, cause it means it will be a bigger deal for season 3. Anime only watchers would have been also rly confused as to why that would have been shown, and never followed up with again trroughout season 2. I hope i dont bite my own foot with this, but i strongly believe there wil be a season 3, and that is why he was completley cut out. But this is just my opinion

I completely agree! I really hope Gosha's introduction from the manga is the opening scene for season 3 which I think would work a lot better narratively than his introduction in the murder solution arc and simultaneously set a really good tone for season 3.

Honestly, yeah, I was 50/50 about episode 12 after I had just finished watching it, but after I thought more about it throughout the day and saw everyone's thoughts on it, I actually came to like it a lot more and the stuff I thought I didn't like in the finale at first wasn't actually that bad. So, after I rewatched ep 12 again at the end of the day, my opinion on the finale was quite positive. I definitely would say recency bias affected a lot of people's opinions, I'm just glad I took the time to think about it after I watched it and didn't write it off as a bad finale, because it really wasn't.

I really hope there’s a season 3. I know there’s no teaser like in season 1 but there’s also the melon line in that same scene. I’m praying to the Netflix gods that season 2 isn’t the last we see of the anime because this is probably one of the best adaptations I have ever seen.

In all fairness, I fail to see any way that Gosha could’ve been introduced the same way he was in the manga. Yeah the phone scene could’ve been there as a hint for stuff to come but if you had the sudden shot of Gosha in the middle of the shower fight, it would not only be very confusing to anime watchers but very insulting as you would have to gloss over it to not ruin the flow - effectively making the phone call kind of pointless now that I think about it. You would have to build Gosha up throughout the season and removing the filler of the first few episodes wouldn’t be much of an option because they help build other things - I would say though, the filler shopping section could’ve been removed and maybe it could’ve worked there but you’d have to make up for the gap and there’s just not enough Gosha for that.

As a person who read the manga before watching season 2, I feel disappointed and underwhelmed. It felt rushed and some parts were missed for background story arcs (Jack and Legoshi, Ibuki, and Louis). For an anime only watcher only, most of these issues probably wouldn’t have mattered. And the season is probably really solid but the pacing is way better in the manga. I would read the manga if anyone felt unsatisfied.

Edit: found it thanks. Also anime only here. I still really, really liked the season. The problems I had were more character based, like Haru having nothing to do or Six Eyes disappearing after that crazy intro or the fact that Legoshi didn't just get the police involved did frustrate me a little. I mean, I get that he wanted to rehab Riz in a similar way to the rest of the characters him and Gohin did. But, aside from making him realize that he was in the wrong, that's all they really got out of it. Oh and the moth thing was a bit overhyped for not as much payoff. When I initially saw the season, I was certain that Legoshi poisoned his own blood knowing Riz would bite him, and thus, he'd take him out with that. Seemed pretty much confirmed when just after biting him, Riz had that crazy hallucination. But then, it didn't really amount to much more than that. Just one, really strong attack, and the whole thing was done. Kinda frustrating. Also, if you're negatively reacting to this show, try out Tokyo Ghoul Root A or Promised Neverland season 2. That's the real shittist adaptation. Seriously. This anime still largely followed the same plot, was well animated and voice acted, and had a coherent story. Was it perfect? No. But by the end, I as an anime only got the general sense of the story. Final edit: hilariously you were 100% right about who played Riz in the dub. When I was watching it, I tried so hard to figure out who the VA was because I recognized him, but I had no idea from where. For anyone who doesn't know, same VA as BNHA Endeavor (dub) and Jojo's Dio Brando (dub).
