I think the idea of everything coming from dinosaurs in the Beastars world is kind of a play on them not really knowing the truth, they unearthed dino bones at some point and assumed 'hey they were people creatures like us so we came from these'. It's their religion, and historically, religions are often not exactly one to one with actual scientific facts, so they get a pass on that one. I could see that being the case here. In fact, the Whale telling the people of the land that all life originated in the Sea and from Fish would have been a more interesting line of thinking. Legalizing donated meat from already dead animal people to carnivores would also have been a smart course of action, on top of allowing for fish meat since they don't care as much. As long as there were safe guards, accidents likely could have been kept a bit more down, not that it could ever be stopped 100%.

This is my take: The Herbi-Carni war started because of the Fact; That Carnivores (Life Animals), eat Herbivores (Nature Animals). They might have lived in peace for 13000 years, but that peace would still have been very strained on the natural fear of being eaten. And since Carnivores could snap because of their instincts to eat meat (Which at the time was not a concept but still a thing they needed), causing them to hurt or even kill Herbivores and usually eating the corpse. Causing these pockets of times, where Herbivores fearing for their lives as a natural response to the Carnivores. And since the Herbivores became more and more in the end, the instinctual fear of being eaten, made the goblet run over. So the War started, because of the fear of being eaten. So when the Whale who is from a society which does not fear death or being eaten, gave a solution for the process of eating Meat; As we know Fish can substitute for example Poultry, Pork and Beef, and we do have products which use fish as the base, but have been in a sense "enhanced" with the parts missing from Poultry, Pork or Beef. So it opened a whole new avenue to the end of the war. The Herbivores didn't need to fear of being eaten, while the Carnivores would have something to quench their instincts. This is why the Black Market was the big deal, since it was a loophole which gave the Carnivores, as well as Herbivores a "Secret" to be able to eat meat. (Yes Herbivores do at times eat meat, because they lack a protein, hormone, or even calcium from their own diet, specifically Iron as well) So it would be easier for the Carnivores and Herbivores to live side by side, if they set up a system for fish meat to be the main source of meat for the Carnivores. They could also make it so Herbivores can donate their bodies, to well, feed Carnivores once they die of (hopefully) natural causes. Blood donations from Herbivores and Carnivores to enhance the fish meat to fill in those gaps. This would be a lot more understanding of the Carnivores and their instincts, since again for a Herbivore, it is unnatural and is unthinkable to require or need to eat another living being. While Fish, have a HUGE assortment of Omnivores, there are fish which is population control, and some which only eat plants, but majority of them *will* eat both. This also include Anthropods such as Crabs, Shrimps, Lobsters and so on. As they are Omnivores (All eaters). And since fish in general are great at holding their populations up and about, even having events where they just overbreed and become so numerous, they need to cull a lot of the numbers down. --- So for me, this makes a lot of sense why the Whale's words stopped the war, the Fear of being Eaten, was now not a main factor. However both sides still have prejudices against each other. As per seen with Legoshi and his grandpa.

Just watched the anime version of these events. I liked the new more realistic take on this character. There’s still underpinnings of resentment there against Gosha but not as intense. When he ends up putting Legoshi in danger Gosha is free to “let him have it” indicating they have a more realistic relationship of old distant friends at the very least.

I cant be the only one that hoped The War ended like Romeo and Juliet.

Is Yahya a horse or a mule? Because he's stubborn as a mule and seems not interested in reproducing. And mules are sterile. His tale also looks a bit like a mule exept when its wrapped up. He's also all about kicking and is fearless. Horses are easily spooked, and mules are good against predators and are especially aggressive towards smaller animals if not properly trained. He might have some inner resentment for being a half breed and why he's obsessed with species being with the same species. I feel like he hides the fact that he's a half breed and pretends he's a horse to hid the secret that he is actually a mule which is sort of an abomination of sorts.

I’m rereading beastars becaure of this video and I remembered you saying melon doesn’t have a goal, in chapter 145 he says he continues to kill to find something and be able to say “that was delicious” I haven’t read much further so I’m not sure exactly how expanded apon this is but I think that’s his motive
