Heard this when it first came out-- played on a college radio station. Died laughing! Was the funniest thing in '83. It's still funny. and if you're from NJ or NY, you know all about Cookie Puss, Cookie O'Puss and Cookie Chick :-D

Agreed: "Cooky Puss" remains hilarious as well as infinitely listenable. In my case, I saw the Cooky Puss EP on cassette at the record store, purchased it based on caprice and wow: what an amazing surprise it was, a revelation, even.

If I'm not mistaken, this cover is a still from a video of them walking like this when there was 4...Kate Schellenbach was still a member. It was before they even started rappin. Classic Punk...

Amazing piece of history this EP. Recorded before Def Jam, before rap really ever left some urban circles. The experimemtalism here is crazy, especially for 1983. The Beasties were still primarily a hardcore punk group, and still had Kate Schellenbach on drums, the little known "Beastie Girl" who was ultimately canned by Rick Rubin. She's center left on this record art, and you can hear Mike D shout her out in the third track, Beastie Revolution.

The scratching is Steve Martin's standup comedy "My Real Name". I first heard this in 82. I was 13 and thought man this is a fun time, so much different stuff coming out. It only got better in 83,84,85,86,87.............and then it ended.

@Nic Bell not even close to being the first rap group. There were hundreds of groups and MCs before the Beastie Boys released License to Ill. They were probably the first white people to release anything hip hop related, so for that they are really pioneers

I first heard this on the new wave / weirdo station WLIR out of Long Island, NY; it came in fuzzy but audible in Brooklyn. It was the "Shriek of the Week". I recognized the Steve Martin bit as well as the delicious ice cream characters that the BB's wanted to speak to. Nonetheless, I was dumbfounded. What the hell did I just hear???
