ENORMOUS English Mastiffs Harrison, Ringo and Paul are the ‘fur Beatles’ - and the in-demand dogs command stud fees between $2,500 and $3,000. Together the trio weigh a collective 630lbs, but despite their giant size they aren’t strangers to hard work. After his father crashed his 4x4, the dog’s owner Joe Thompson had to rely on his dogs to transport his gear to his remote hunting shack in Cloquet Valley State Forest in Minnesota. Joe and his two boys, Jaden, 16, and Fischer, 8, head to the cabin two or three times a week. Joe said: “It’s a really important place to me as it’s where I spent most of the time with my dad. It’s not been changed since 1949 so it’s almost like stepping back in time.” And according to Joe, the dogs compete to wear the harness and drag the sled containing firewood and provisions. Joe added: “The second I touch that harness both dogs fight over who gets to wear it and do the pulling. These dogs are bricks - they are a wrestler build, as close to a wild mastiff as you’ll ever see.”

I had a 247lb English Mastiff, that we adopted from a rescue group. Sweetest dog ever. Here’s what I learned: 1) While walking him, I had to factor in all the cars that would slow down to ask how big he was, and all the people that would ask if they could ride him.2) When he was done walking, he was done. Didn’t matter if we were a mile from home, in a doorway at vet, halfway into garage....done. You get to wait....3) No screen door is safe. It’s not a barrier. He would simp,y walk through it.4) His farts made me blind, deaf and confused all at the same time. I’d forget who and where I was.5) Ear plugs will not drown out the snoring. 6) Sweetest, gentlest dog....unless he knew something was up. I live in a great neighborhood. My neighbor who was a police officer, became addicted to opioids. I had surgery. Neighbor broke into my home at 3am, when my husband was out of town. My 247lb security system let him know that he two choices: leave, or die. 7) Drool drool and more drool. A daily job was to wipe window sills and walls. Amazing breed, loyal, loving, but not for every family. He had a great life with us, until he passed away....💗💜💗💜💗💜💗💜💗

I do home stays for dogs, as an alternative to kennels when the owner goes on holiday. Next week I've got a 100kg English Mastiff plus his friend, a 65kg Bullmastiff coming to stay. Thanks for this. My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. Good for you. I'm a German Shepherd person. But, years ago my sister rescued a mastif and through that dog, I fell in love with these warm, loving "speed bumps". These dogs must have a job to be happy. They, like shepherds and humans, must feel needed to be content. Your dad taught you well and now in heaven, he is indeed proud of the man you've become.

Dogs over 200 pounds from this breed are quite common and they looks exactly as the ones in this video. making them pull all this weight through the woods is not really the best idea while the english mastiffs are considered but the dogos looks ok to me.There is no such a thing as "mastiffs " in one description, there are at least 7 different breeds of true mastiffs and the English are the largest one of them.

Had English Mastiffs my whole adult life. I’m 50. They’re truly amazing animals. Especially if you allow them to grow up off leash and running free on large acreage. I’ve always kept pairs of intact males. I’m crippled from Ankylosing Spondylitis now and just about an invalid. Copper, my nearly 9 year old mastiff is unfortunately going to have to be my last dog. I don’t have the physical ability or the length of life left to raise another. Mastiffs aren’t for everyone. Especially if you’re a neat freak. They drool, fart and stink. But if you’re in danger they won’t hesitate to fight to the death in your defense. Shoot them, bludgeon them, cut off a leg… They will protect you until the last beat of their mighty heart.

They're not the same type of working dog like collies or retrievers - mastiff's were bred for protection. All three variations of the breed - English, Neoplitian and BullMastiff were bread to be big, strong and quiet.
