🚨 2024 Funny Backstory: David W Barber, 49, -is- [was] due in court on March 13, 2023 on felony charges of terroristic threatening and fleeing. Couldn't find an update, so might have pleaded out. Idk Allegedly, supposedly, maybe, who really knows, he had grenades and weapons in the truck after making threats which s why there was such a priority to stop him. ps he looks like the Unabomber. His mugshot is on mugshotzone. Now this is FUNNY!!! 🤣 For those commenting about the PIT into incoming traffic, the only reason there is any info out there on this stop was because this case was used by some people challenging TVIs as part of LE tools. Claiming they are dangerous. (Really? Oh no! 🙄) The ASP addressed the concerns by referring to the TVI instructions that strongly suggest TVIs be performed at 35mph or less. [🤣] However, it was pointed out that it is up to the officer"s discretion. 🚓🚨🚓🚨🚓 Interesting enough, it was also mentioned that the body and dash cam videos have become popular and revenues generated help with LE training such as the TVI course. Details from THV11 Author: Rolly Hoyt Published: 11:03 PM CST February 21, 2023, Updated: 11:03 PM CST February 21, 2023 September 15, 2022, Conway Police alerted troopers that a suspect named David [Wayne] Barber, 49, was trying to escape arrest for threatening, by flying toward North Little Rock at greater than 100MPH. Trooper Joseph Killian intercepted the blue Chevy pick-up just past the interchange with I-430 and I-40. He became the primary officer as the suspect weaved across all three lanes and both shoulders through one of the busiest highways in the state. Five minutes after taking up the chase and just past the complicated I-30 terminal and split to US 67/167. Trooper Mark Blackerby then took charge and delivered a fateful order. "I got the radio. Just drive," he said. "When you get a chance, when you get past this traffic, PIT him." Trooper Killian did as ordered. He drew his cruiser to the left rear quarter of the truck and steered right. It caused the truck to veer to the left into the grass median. The cover of the truck bed could be seen flying away- and Killian, as well as the suspect careen across the oncoming lanes of traffic.

@brianbickle73952 жыл бұрын
Or pay attention to their surroundings
@Hastings1066TV2 жыл бұрын
At high speeds, sirens become useless, lights get washed out during bright sunlight. It's really annoying when people don't move out of your way, but this is why the training is so long. Present your vehicle, allow time for vehicles to react, and do not bully other vehicles out of the way , because they often slam on their brakes and you in the response vehicle have nowhere to go. With a polac the higher trained driver is responsible for any other actions of other road users. May not sound right, but that's what we ended up with.
@GR-bn3xj Жыл бұрын
Yes in a lot of these videos people do not pull over and I get the point that you can't hear the sirens at that speed but so many are camped in the left lane to begin with when they shouldn't be.

@Fred Freddy I think the Arkansas State Patrol could teach many other states a few things about Chases. They end them quickly. Now in certain cases, like this one it was a dangerous move But it did work. You don't see hour long chases in Arkansas and ultimately that leads to fewer people getting hurt in fewer destruction of property. What you do get is a higher chance of mortality when they end the chase. It's a different philosophy. The one thing we cannot measure is how many people did not run because of the reputation of the Arkansas State Police. If we could we, could weigh whether this was a better approach or not but without that stat it's hard to actually give them a score on their approach. I'm glad that we can at least see the good and the bad of this different approach, because making the officers simply follow and do nothing is very frustrating to all, especially when that car side swipes a ton of cars.

@DefenderOfAvril2 жыл бұрын
I love ASP, but this was a bad PIT. He should have PITed him from the right side, not the left. I understand that there was no space for the PIT from the right because of those two big trucks, but he should have waited I little longer for a better spot then. I hate pitting from the left side on these freeways, because when the PIT is not perfect, it will usually send suspects vehicle flying onto the upcoming traffic, putting innocent drivers in harms way. Anyway I´m glad that nobody was hurt and I´ve still enjoyed this another APS Dukes of Hazard moment 😆 Also thanks for this dash cam view, LHRN only had the different one from the secondary unmarked ASP car.

That was scary. Obey the law and respect the police , and move the hell over for when LE has their lights on. This officer deserves to go home to his family.

About as much danger as the guy in the truck doing over 100mph, driving like an idiot while armed with a rifle. Yes, the trooper picked a bad spot to do the PIT, but he's not the only one who put everyone else in danger.
@boxsterjones Жыл бұрын
It was a felony stop with a firearm in the vehicle. That means that the person has committed a very serious crime. A lot of felons don't just stop committing crimes. Many elevate to committing more serious crimes. Would you rather they not pursue this person, leaving a greater chance for him to commit more crimes against innocent people?

@@boxsterjones doesn’t warrant possibly killing innocent people in traffic though. Now if this guy was actually wanted for murder or something then that’s different story.

Wow was this officer even pit certified? That was a very high speed for a pit maneuver and with a much lighter vehicle than the suspect vehicle. As a veteran that was pit certified, this was reckless and could have killed someone.
@donnawilson209211 ай бұрын
All Arkansas State Troopers who pit vehicles are pit certified. Had they left that maniac driver on the road, you think he might have killed someone? Those troopers have to get the reckless driver off the road to avoid many innocent lives being lost. Your thought process just amazes me. It's always the police who are wrong, no matter what the criminal does?? I feel sorry for people who always feel the need to blame the ones who are trying to protect the public. It's rather sickening and twisted in so many ways.

@donnawilson2092 I dunno they said wait until traffic is clear.....might of waited until I was not right next to a semi truck......they did have to get that moron off the road......but traffic wasn't that heavy ......could of waited for a spot that was a bit more clear and pushed him to the right vs left into on coming traffic.....if the semi truck was not there she could of pushed him to the right away from on coming traffic

Yes, it is law in Arkansas that the left lane is for passing only. And yes, ASP needs to mail citations to everyone that didn't want to move to the right lane.

I am a citizen of the state of Arkansas and I would appreciate it if the law enforcement would enforce the law concerning driving in the left lane and start issuing tickets and fines to these damn people who think the left lane is for casual driving and sight seeing.

At freeway speeds it is difficult to hear the sirens until they are close. I learned that by practical application in the academy.

I worked the road in Clackamas County Oregon for the Sheriff's Office for 24 years in the 60s 70s and eighties. did my share of pursuits. They are all exciting when you are a young Deputy but was you mature they become scary. We didn't have the pit maneuver then we chased until we caught or they got away. I watch these now that often end in deaths to the culprit and or innocent folks. There is no end to human stupidity.

ASP are some crazy mutha's. They don't give a shit about anything but catching whoever they are pursuing. I know catching the bad guys is essential, but damn. I sure wouldn't want to be in the oncoming lanes when a pickup truck and a state trooper pursuit unit come bouncing across the roadway right in front of me. They, the cops, catching the bad guy wouldn't serve as any form of comfort if their efforts hurt or kill others. I've seen ASP PIT vehicles while traveling in excess of 100 mph. How can you possibly know the outcome of such a move? There has got to be a better, safer way. Really glad no one what hurt.

I have driven for many decades, one thing I have noticed since the introduction of mobile phones, especially smart phones, is that people are not paying attention to their surroundings. In the 60's thru the 90's drivers would have moved over MUCH sooner than these drivers. Pay attention people, assume they are chasing someone who might cause you or your family harm.
