Thank you for your summarised informations about the Civs! I only played Rus and I was kinda awed about the other civs and thought there is too much micromanagement, but you encouraged me to try out all civs. I'm an absolute casual player in AOE but nontheless I think I must play perfectly from the start and I know thats counterproductive, because in the first line I should enjoy the game and not having all the pros in my head. I started with onetricking abbasid, then I got delhi as the berry bonus was the same. When ottomans got released I tried those as well. I literally have NEVER gathered boar in my life. When I tried french for the first time I was so lost on how to get food without the good berries.

As Dehli you can actually do pretty well against Malians if you go Tower of victory and house of learning, In feudal your spears and bows attack much faster including healing from scholars. In Castle age and Imperial you basically print MAA Crossbow/Cannon with Knights and Mangonels. Very import is to go very early for the ability to put scholars into buildings, that what makes Dehli a pretty brutal printer. Elefant units are current not worth their time and costs, MAA with ToV and weapon upgrade from house of learning perform so much better.

If you are going Tower of Victory its very expensive to pay for the scholars to go into all of your military production buildings, I usually see the rapid-production style of Delhi gameplay as a House of Wisdom style.

Actually not, during feudal you have no gold units, no gold cost to upgrade your techs. You be sitting on plenty of gold and even more if you go for sacred sites and then relics right after going castle. In fact one common tactic i like to do is having enough houses for a 3-4 stable knight spam while going for +1 attack on blacksmith and +3 attack in house of learning.

I want to like Rus so much but they were by far the most frustrating to play when I was doing their masteries. Got a few left on china to wrap all of the civs up and then going to pick 1 or 2 civs to main and I can't decide haha.

I started playing a week ago and was trying civs that match my play style untill I try HRE. It really was the best civ for me and after completing the masteries, I'm trying Rus but getting demolished by AI in all multiplayer matches lol

Zerg gold here getting defeated by muscle memory. When I 200 as Chinese, I have zerg tendencies to throw it at enemy, as he does something simple, like building rams in Forrest waiting for my army to die to rush in and destroy my eco

Abbasid most like zerg? Maybe macro wise in that they're the 2 sides that can viably go fast 3hatch/3tc, then spam cheap units and take bad trades and not care because of their eco. Also in the fact that you build all your buildings in a connected group. But the civ I always compare to zerg is mongols. Towers out on the map giving speed boost and vision feels like creep spread. Dictating the match with early aggression with higher mobility melee units in the very early game is the trademark of zerg and mongols. Double producing horsemen feels just like how zerglings double produce to me. Also, not being able to wall gang reporting in. I see the parallels between abbasid/zerg but mongols get my vote for most zerg like. Abbasid has zerg macro but Mongols have zerg aggression and core game mechanics.

Agreed, but I think the macro is what makes a "zerg." Any unit can "zerg" as long as there's enough of em imo.

Hey guys! I rarely write comments but I need advice. I used to play SC2 ( I was mid gold with Terran ) but I need a game to replace my MMO (Guild wars 2) main game. Is it a good time to buy AOE4 now and start playing?

They game balance is in a good place ATM so multiplayer is great, hopefully they add more single player content and QoL features but multiplayer is in a great spot and updates are going in the right direction for the most part. They released two free civs and also simultaneously reduced the base price. If you don't know if you'll enjoy it try it on gamepass before buying.

I think the build speed buff for china should be limited to Tang dynasty and you should lose it as you switch dynasties. Then youd have todecide if ypu want the villager speed buff or unit health or speed buff over faster build speed. That mechanic is broken af.

English is brain dead easy rn. W/battering ram nerf and tc nerfs they are especially strong. You can fast castle, get a 2nd tc for it. And if the enemy tries to punish you for it, you have a defensive bonus. I had been on a ranked losing spree, almost always losing to English and Mongols. I switched to English and it’s just too easy to win. Plus my other hard matchup: Mongols, they counter. Until they nerf this civ I’ll be abusing them because they are currently too strong.

I doubt English gets nerfed. If they do it will be mostly minor or on water. They're sitting on a really good 50% WR for any rank. Actually less than 50% WR once you climb ranked ladder

Damn, on the low level I feel that China are one of the easiest civs :V Super build time, gold income, many landmarks, super strong units and more feels like they are built and expand automatically ;_; I hate to play them because it feels like playing with cheats. I still can't feel Malians. They are super fun to play but can't fit their playstyle and again I stuck with the Rus ;D

Well the more you advance, with more people rushing early on, and more units involved in composition, i think Chinese become more and more weak until the very top of the players when they can maximise all of Chinese potential
