In my Mongol build I mass archers, go siege engineering first and harass while it's upgrading. Then while they build the first ram, I get steeled arrow. This allows for a quick feudal push using the research timing efficiently. Being Mongols once you destroy 4 small buildings you've more than paid for your ram. It's been pretty effective in gold league, only had trouble against English.

37:00 do poison arrows stack? as in if you had two archers, and you hit thrice with each of them for 6 arrows, will they do 18 extra damage over the next 8-9 seconds?

IIRC they do

something about microing units in this game bugs me the entire time i played this. in starcraft if you micro marines vs zerglings, the zerglings die in unison and the damage is well spread out. in AOE4, if you micro archers, cannoneers, xbows, camel archers, they all for some reason attack 1 or 2 units resulting in an massive over kill and it just feels so unrewarding to kite and im forced to micro half my archers to shoot off sync from each other to get better damage spread in big battles. it just feels so much easier to make knights or mangonels instead of dealing it with micro and kiting. feel like the game AI targeting system is a bit different and imo, blizzard games have better "a click on ground kiting"

Do you use line formation when shooting with ur archers? I found it spreads dmg more evenly
@stewarttrench528 Жыл бұрын
The units on aoe4 just attack the closest unit to them. SC2 has a thing where they eont overkill and will spread their fire more. Yeah, the pathfinding and responsiveness isn't anywhere near as good as starcraft which is a shame. 😊

Just go line formation, but it sounds like you need some tanking damage for your archers, Maa, horseman or knights depending on what civ you play. Then you can get a real nice surround on some units with your archers. But as for the easiness of it, I think it makes for a way higher skill ceiling for the players that can achieve it, seems pretty cool
@jasonyun1158 Жыл бұрын
@@williamstrong3146 you’re missing the point. I’m high diamond to low conqueror queues and sometimes line formation won’t do you justice and they STILL focus the same 2-3 units. Not sure if you played any other rts but they all have better damage spread between units. Ofc who only goes ranged units I throw MaA or horsemen knights infront to soak…. Giving me gold tips to justify lackluster game mechanic does nothing. Not to mention the moment they have even 1 unit protruding from the rest all of the ranged units focus that unit unless constantly micro it.
@jasonyun1158 Жыл бұрын
Do you guys even know what line formation does? It only works when you’re moving and the moment you a click on the ground near enemy units they break formation and charge. Just like how line formation knights still charge the front unit. And justifying lacking game mechanics by “just form line formation” is just beyond me lmao. The moment they have a mangonel you must break it and go into scattered. Doesn’t really do much does it?

I know it's a bit off topic but is there any rationale for going for landmark exclusive techs (mainly Meinwerk/House of Learning) in a game?
@palmolive4541 Жыл бұрын
Of course - Meinwerk is honestly a meme landmark though and you should probably never go for it. Even with an all-in castle age with burgrave, your castle age timing is delayed a lot by not having aachen, and of course it takes longer to get the eco required to continually produce units out of burgrave. Aachen is just far too powerful an eco boon to skip. As for house of learning, it's not a bad landmark, but compound of the defender is also a lot better with the current delhi meta of capturing sacred sites in feudal since you don't need to pull workers to wall in the sacred sites. Plus, you can fortify sacred sites even more with keeps, and they boost your eco even more since they function as additional town centres as well. If you went for tower of victory instead of dome of faith, the man at arms upgrade in the house of learning is really good, it makes delhi man at arms even better than HRE man at arms. But when playing delhi, you want to get all upgrades anyway since they're free, it's just a matter of which order you prioritise them - if you go for the tower of victory/house of learning build, I would make sure you have a few barracks attached to the tower of victory with scholars garrisoned in them and enough eco to produce man at arms constantly while you're going castle.

You sure need the military upgrades but the time depends in what units the enemy has and what you will use to counter him so don’t make any upgrade in blind for sure
