I’ve been using Life Source for about six months. I credit it with the huge turn around in my current tank. I started this tank with dry rock I was having a lot of issues with corals dying or just failing to thrive despite proper parameters and light. After reading about life source I gave it a try and the results were amazing and almost immediate. Within a week I saw corals that were dying recover, corals I couldn’t keep start to do fine. There was something missing in my tank biologically that life source helped with. Great stuff.

Cyano is a In balance of bacteria has nothing to do with keeping phosphate and nutrient in balance I have had experience cyano with running ultra low nutrient tank were everything was zero. My problem was I didn't have enough fish to balance out the tank.

@@6jdhd that's your opinion when I started keeping the proper amounts of nitrates and phosphates in my tank it totally eliminated cyano but then you are entitled to your opinion you can dose nitrate and phosphate manually you did know that when I started doing that I never had a problem with cyano again because it's snuffs out cyano furthermore that's why you had a problem because you probably had no nitrate and no phosphate in there everyone knows you should have a little bit of a nitrate phosphate in a reef tank been in the saltwater hobby since 1986 it's been well documented that a reef tank has to have a little bit of nitrate and a little bit of phosphate and like I said this also helps snuff out cyano you say you didn't have enough fish in your tank well what do you think happens when you put more fish in your tank you're producing more nitrate in the water and also when you feed your producing some phosphate but you know what dude everybody has their own opinion and I do not agree with you one bit

Any experienced Reef keeper knows to keep cyano out of your tank you must maintain a certain level of nitrate and phosphate grab yourself a Red Sea handbook that most saltwater shops have on hand to give to customers in the back it says algae control next to that it tells you to maintain a certain level of nitrates and phosphates this is well well-documented I noticed you said when you added more fish it balance out your tank question what do you think happens to your tank when you start adding more fish eventually your nitrates start going up because you just added more of a bioload to your tank also your phosphates may go up a little bit you have to learn a little bit about chemistry sir I was talking to the guy at the reef store and told them about the comment you made and he started laughing out loud I set up a second tank not long ago I started to get a just a little bit of algae on the sand my phosphate was low when I added the correct dosage of phosphate according to my test kit within two days the little bit of algae that accumulated on the sand was totally gone I'm talking to you from experience

I'm now dealing with the aftermath, while the tank is finding its balance again. The sand is staying cleaner than ever, but I need to pick algae from the rocks 3 or 4 times per month. I'm dosing nitrates, feeding heavily and I removed the GFO because nutrients were getting too low for my liking, maybe due to the extra export from the algae. I respect what you believe this products dose to your system and the DIY version but every system is different,and it’s start with good maintenance schedule keeping everything we’re it needs to be and maintain balance in your system the rest will come naturally,respect your believes but we should promote good maintenance schedule and a steady routine
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
Correct, I agree! That’s why I did a whole video on that previously. This is a part of that process. Thank you :) For more information watch the latest reef dudes chat with aqua biomics. He discuss how most systems are not diverse in bacteria and promotes mud so this product helps with diversity of biome. Most systems are different for sure!

I think the two products outlined in the video and the methods used are consistent with good maintenance

Your diy calcium carbonate is that like kalkwasser? I have to have Crystal clear water !!! Hot do I make it up to have my own ? (What is used to create it?)
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
no, Kalkwasser is calcium hydroxide, do not use that!

@@Mikeymikemike I had someone tell me and they swear by Kalkwasser to give my corals life I’m new to corals and had a hammer and a torch die but now realize my high salinity killed them so here I am starting over
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
@@berniegrant2633 yes you can use kalkwasser but not for this application. You must add it to a solution of water at a very different concentration and dose it slowly. This is a different product for a different purpose :)

Sorry, but I didn't understand why you show a bottle of yakult, I didnt hear you use it or how, and why to use it.
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
Ahh the Yakult is good bacteria for our body. The picture is symbolic of good bacteria. The same applies for our aquarium, it needs good bacteria to fight the bad ones. Please don’t dose Yakult but please drink it!

If I use 1ml of Calcium chloride and 1ml.of alkalinity.... I would get calcium carbonate..... So can I dose that ??
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
I guess you would need to collect the precipitate but that means you will need a lot! I think buying the raw product is much more cost effective

Mike, did you notice if there was an EXPIRY date on the mud container? Is is stored at room temp, once opened? Thanks :)
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
I will need to check when I’m home, but you can store it at room temp. I think in a reasonable use car scenario though, you will use it before it expires if any such date applies.

Can I just get any Calcium Carbonate powder for this?
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
Yes any food grade will do, if you can find life source then I think it works out the same price long term

Hey does the calcium carbonate not raise KH or calsium?
@Mikeymikemike3 жыл бұрын
Because it is a solid and won’t dissolve in our higher ph tanks. It stays in the precipitated form and does not increase calcium and hardness. Think of it like adding very fine aragonite sand or just dead coral skeletons to the tank (but in powder form) - it will only increase if your reef tank ph drops below 7 but in that circumstance you have bigger problems to worry about :) hope this helps
