I suspect if you've been following these concerts, you recognize the improvisation in the tunes. This has been a part of Robert Fripp's work; it's inspiring to hear these guys whipping it out, all having immense technical abilities in the honor of this tradition. As a jazz player, amongst other approaches including full improvisational groups, this is so satifying personally. I'm speechless other than in this post.

I missed all of this in the 80’s but loved the Sylvian/Fripp album and shows which I saw in the U.K. (The resulting live album Damage was released as a mix by Sylvian then later by Fripp. Wonderful collaboration) Part of this set reminded me of the album “I advance masked” by Fripp/Andy Summers.

Unfortunate that they're stopping in St Louis instead of Kansas City, imo KC has far superior venues, and a larger extended metro area to sell tickets to. Looks like it would be a great show, despite the fact that Steve Vai can't quite hang with Fripp on songs like Frame by Frame, it's still interesting to hear his take on those parts.
