I must admit that I don't use the MPC. I use a novation launchpad s and novation launch control XL, and I record everything in Ableton Live 9 Suite. However, I apply things that I've learned about the MPC, and other MPC-type machines, to Launchpad. I use that thing in a similar way.

Great video! I can watch your videos all day, even if it's something I already know, it's still entertaining to watch. Keep 'em coming! Just a little side note: this is the NATURAL minor scale (also known as simply the minor scale), not the melodic minor one.

I want to purchase the 16 Pad Scale Manual in paperback from Amazon, but before I do, I have a question: So, are you saying that once you have your sample and you are trying to find a bass that is in the same key or as close as possible, all you have to do is put that bass sound in multi-pad mode and one of the 16 pads will have a bass sound that is in the same, or close as possible to the same key as the sample, which is denoted by the yellow colored key in the manual? The reason I ask is because I saw another video where you first simply went into the parameter page and tuned the bass while simultaneously playing the sample, so I was a little confused.
@Verysickbeats3 жыл бұрын
yes the root note will represent the yellow pad. the vid you may be referring to i think i was talking about a different subject. watch this whole playlist for a better understanding kzbin.info/aero/PL14pM4bMkDLmWjrGROYmU4rgPqOjtLBQj

Hi, i've watched most of your videos, this is really helpful. Thanks a lot! Question for you : i see you are using 7-9 bass notes to create your bass melodies in your videos, but is it always like that? Usually, how many notes do you use to compose the bass line? Thanks a lot again.
@Verysickbeats4 жыл бұрын
it varies, sometimes only 2 or 3 notes or even just 1.. here's an example kzbin.info/www/bejne/poLJp3R7rZ15gZY

Hey brother, got a question and i'm confused. I understood the concept of matching the bass note to the sample. Here are the 2 techniques i'm using but having a hard time with : 1. If the sample is bass heavy, i could A. sample , low pass filter and then 16 levels, but my question on this option is : how to know what bass note to sample within the melody of the track to know that the 16 levels will be good . or B. sample the bassline within the melody, lowpass filter it and then just play drums over it and chop other parts of the record. 2. a technique i heard about looping very fast and cut a zero cross point then pitch it down but it all comes down to if the bass i get is from the sample and im only using the record to make all my beat. for example : a 8 bar soul track , i can chop each bass note within the 8 bar melody or only sample 1 note and 16 level it, but what note should i get, the first one ?
@Verysickbeats8 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Martineau-Bailey 1. i always say use ur ears and if it doesn't sound good to u, try something else 2. U can get whatever note u want because u could always tune it no matter what or chop each bass note if u want...it's really up to you

Do you necessarily need to know theory to have your basses in key ? Or really all in ear ?Also, what if your sample is outta key
@Verysickbeats6 жыл бұрын
the most important thing is your ears, knowing theory helps but not required. If sample is out of key, change the pitch until it matches what you want
@JRSWIFTZ7576 жыл бұрын
Verysickbeats definitely, i was told...i gotta learn theory , gotta learn theory because my bass be outta key...no, i know what I’m doing...i was just making mistakes with speakers and not taking my time.
