You have the best tutorial videos, hands down. You go so in depth that someone new to the MPC would be quick to learn the basics using any of your playlist. I bought my 2000XL and you inspired me to really learn to use my 2000XL. Your are the KSR One of teaching on the MPC 2000XL. The Teacher...

I just recently began producing on Logic. Wish I could just 'download' the info into my cranium like in The Matrix. So many points of departure into creativity. I play drums, but my productions so far came from bass lines, like you're showing here, on a Rhodes w/my left hand. You are inspiring, thank you Sir!

I just incorporated a old crusty OG eps for the soul purpose of running bass lines. My main sampler is a sp1200 but I either use a e4000 or a mpc 2000 for initial samples so i can tweak them and phatten them up before speeding them up for the sp. We all know this is what gives sp1200 the famous sound but i didn't like what it did to bass lines.. the EPS is 13bit so it goes good with the 12 bit drums and samples...sorry for rambling I'm obsessed!!! Great video!! I now have tape on my keys ( no keyboard knowledge at all)

damn yo i was sorta skeptical at first but as soon as you busted out the minor pentatonic i was like damn this bassline is gonna groove like some shit. shits dope. only thing i would say is that since that kick is so laid back on the beat if you lay back on the bassline a little bit more it would really sit in and groove. the bassline is perfectly in time but its on top of the beat whereas the keys and drums are definitely layin back so it sounds like you're rushing just a little. idk ha

Good video J, I am looking at a pentatonic scale chart for all twelve minor scales I am wondering is there a formula to follow for a pentatonic scale? Looking at your video for G minor the formula would be a minor 3rd-whole step-whole step-minor 3rd-whole step and then resolve with the last whole step? Is this true for all the minor scales.

Great info! But what if it's out of key to the sample being lopped???
@Verysickbeats5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and great question. In that case find the key of the sample first and then play baseline accordingly. If all else fails, if the sample has bass in it, you could try layering it
@Crookedletta6015 жыл бұрын
Verysickbeats Ok thx I will keep trying!!!! If I can’t figure it out could you possibly lay a baseline to the track if I pay you and send the baseline back separately and I can add is as a loop? I have a baseline I already laid down to it but it doesn’t sound quite right. I loop for baseline loops also but to no avail SMH 🤦🏾♂️

Well even without this it isnt that hard to make a nice bassline with a sample . just hum a bassline that goes with the sample then match it withyour ears on the keyboard or mp
