Beat Preview - Akai MAX49 - FL Studio 11

This is my home beat making setup. Purchased this Akai MAX49 that makes it so simple to produce beats in FL Studio 11. Ya'll gotta get one!

Get as many drum kits as you can store on your computer. You can also download FREE VST plugins as well!

Note repeat works great in FL Studio 10. i use it with Poise, FPC and GURU vst drum samplers. Need to make sure the tempo on the MAX 49 matches FL Studio's tempo or the notes will sound off. I have all MAX 49's slide faders mapped to the volume sliders on the mixer channels. Once they're mapped just just save the FL Studio template as an flp file so that when you open FL Studio again the faders you mapped will still be mapped to the mixer or whatever you mapped them too. It's pretty easy to do!

Once you finally assign everything it's good but fl needs to get with the program other boards work automatic with fl , but incase you haven't notice the faders have lights that are suppose to spoke with volume and it doesn't work with fl like I saw on yours either hopefully fl will add this board as an automatic controller not having in first time use having to assign it all up

Wow, amazing! Wish I can get to that level soon lol. Question..I just bought mine but upon setting it up, the keys are very much delayed in FL Studio. I would press a key down and the sound would register shortly after as oppose to right away. Any suggestion? Keep up the great work, love it.

Trying to use that Vyzex Max49 editor and Akai Connect was a pain though. This is why I don't use them. Once I map the faders and pads from the Max49 to FL Studio I save the template as an flp file for each type of mapping that I do. Keeps it simple.

just tap on the blinking "Tap Tempo" button to the beat of the metronome in your DAW. Max 49 will then match that tempo.

I have a max49 and use flstudio 11. did you get the note repeat to work? what do you use the pads with. I have been using poise. im trying to use all the features of the max so I don't have to mouse too much. any pointers

Sure does. there's even a setting or "program" on it that says "FL Studio". So it will communicate well with it I assure you.

I'm still using FL 10 and haven't upgraded yet. I like 10 so I'm staying with it. Like I told another poster, I followed the Quickstart guide and Program documentation that came with the unit I purchased. Akai Professional's webpage has the same .pdf guide to download. Since I used to have an MPD16 I was familiar with how to setup Akai's midi controllers to FL Studio. I viewed several "how to" videos on the MPD16 and MPD32 that gave me the basics. After that it was smooth sailing!

June Tana Hey June, I finally upgraded to FLS 11 and my unit still works flawlessly as it did in FLS 10. Didn't even need to do any setup. FLS 11 recognized my MAX 49 and I began to do my thang!!

Well I can't figure out how to control sylenth with touch panda I got the keys working I had to map the on Vyzex editor but my pitch wheel doesn't want to work with fl studio for some reason

I just used a VST plug-in called "Fruity Mute" which comes with FL Studio. then created an automation clip and set it to mute at a certain time on the playlist.

Its basic as of now..just max49 on FL studios when I go to midi options on FL. .max isn't listed I think it's only apc 20 and the 40..so thats where I'm at

dave thetrucka If Akai MAX49 is not listed under the "Input' section on the Midi option tab then I'd say you are missing the drivers for that device. Check on Akai Professional's webpage for software/driver/firmware updates for Max49.

1st download the files from Akai's website (drivers, manuals, Akai connect, etc). Once the files are installed go into FL's midi settings and for Output choose Akai MAX49 (also select Send master sync). And under Input select Akai Max49 and "Enable" it. Controller type should be "Generic controller". That's the short version of how to do it. Read through all my other responses and you find more tips on how to setup keyboard below.

That depends on what DAW you use. Since I use FL Studio 10 I use the FPC or POISE as my goto MPC like VSTs. Then I assign the pads from the MAX49 to the pads on the VST in FL studio. The pads on the MAX49 have the standard MIDI notes already assigned. If yours doesn't then use the software that came with it to make the adjustments (hint: I followed the instructions) . I watched several videos on youtube to get help with that as well. You can search for those referring to setting up an Akai MPD 16 or 32 to a DAW. You will get the basic idea from that.

install driver cd or find drivers. then plug it in before you opn fl studio . Turn the dial to #9 it will say fl studio. after that open fl studio then enable it in midi settings.
