I think my favourite part about Beat Saber is how there really is no skill cap, like as long as you play sorta regularly you'll almost endlessly improve at a pretty quick rate and it feels really nice. Sure there's ups and downs and all that, but since its so fun to play improvement comes quicker and easier than you'd expect. Especially with sooooo many custom maps of varying difficulty and that focus on different skillsets! I 100% agree with everything on the OST as well, thanks for bringing it up and shedding some light onto that :) Honestly can't wait to see more of this game in the bigger rhythm game community, it totally deserves the recognition and I'm sure anyone who gets to try it will want to play it forever :)

Awesome review, glad to see the larger rhythm game community noticing modded beat saber more and more. a note about Time dependence (TD), it's basically a measurement about how much timing matters when trying to acc a block. It's not really an intentional scoring mechanic, just a by-product of the 3-dimensional nature of the game that can be abused. Having low TD does not mean you have worse acc, although for most people it would make it harder to get high acc. Newer players don't really have to worry about time dependency, it's a fairly advanced technique that's only really used by top players going for high acc plays on mid to high speed maps. If you're a new player, just aim down the middle of a block for the most points. hope this helps.

I've seen someone (or close relative, to be specific) and it's definitely a mind blowing game that's fun but at the same time hard for the player base who want it. Official OSTs in the game get tiring quickly and I'm happy that custom songs are an option (very needed option), overall, with my first impressions with the game, it's not my usual cup of tea, but it certainly is a great game to try out of curiosity. 8.5/10

@@megvmean oh lol, well I don't have too much space, I play BS facing my bed, so theres nothing high enough infront of me, behind me there's maybe abit less than 1m space until a wall, as for side to side ig just make sure you can outstretch ur arms fully and dont have controllers touch anything (even when leaning side to side). Though I should mention I can't really play 360 maps due to the wall behind me but like 99% of custom maps aren't 360 maps lol. And I have to be aware of the bed when crouching under walls. Most importantly make sure you can swing your arms without hitting anything. Aside from 360 maps and more than 4 lane maps, both of which are pretty rare, your feet don't need to move at all. As for other games, most of them support controller-based movement and rotation, so you should be fine, but there are a few exceptions, e.g. iirc SUPERHOT VR doesn't.

I have 310 hours, playing for a year just about. I thought I'd play casually but I got more and more into the ranked stuff. Oh and I use the Quest 2 but with Link on a PC, I don't even own the Quest 2 version of the game. Quest 2 works very well as a PC headset, no reason to limit yourself to the Quest version of the game. The native quest version sucks because it takes FOREVER for mods to be updated after a game update, it's impossible to be a ranked player on the native version because Scoresaber will literally only work for like 3-4 weeks and then break again. Scoresaber hasn't been available on the Quest version for about 2 months now for example.

If you try to hid the middle of a block moving past you it is time dependent as you can imagine. By minimising time dependency by hitting the note diagonal through its fly path you get yourself a better probability to hit the middle. It does not count into the calculation of the scoring on a note from the game itself it just helps hitting higher precision.

Yo! I've been playing Beat Saber since launch and playing though PC is definitely the way to go. You can use the link feature on your quest 2 to run it though your PC which will make modding much simpler. You said that the mods that are available depend on your headset, and I guess that's true in a way, but a better way to look at it is that you're either on quest or on PC. The vast majority of headsets run though PC and modding the game won't pay any attention to what headset you're using as long as you just run it though steam (or through the oculus launcher using a rift/quest or ReVive). I believe there's a way to use link without even having a cable now so if your PC is strong enough to handle running VR, I definitely recommend using that rather than standalone quest 2. I have a Quest 1, Quest 2, and Rift CV1 and I pretty much exclusively use my rift for BS. Also, I definitely recommend checking out Audica! Lot's of VR rhythm games fall a bit flat IMO but Beat Saber and Audica are 2 great ones, but oculus bought the studio that makes Beat Saber so they constantly promote it and Audica doesn't get enough exposure!

I wish score wasn’t influenced on how hard you swing ;-;
@sagittarius92373 жыл бұрын
It's not actually how hard you swing, but instead how "far" you swing (angle-dependent). There's quite a lot of technique that goes into optimizing each swing so you're not over/under-swinging or using too much energy for each swing, and basically every single top player agrees it'd be an awful idea to base scoring on something like timing instead.
@wjjxkskqkw3 жыл бұрын
@@sagittarius9237 interesting, does that mean there is legitimately no rhythm element to it? because, even if there are “streams”, there is a big difference between getting a stream of straight 50’s and 100’s and getting a stream of 300’s, in a game like osu. even though you technically hit the same amount of notes, the difference in skill required is literally ten fold. if there legitimately isn’t a significant rhythm element to it, thats kinda boring to me, no disrespect to the top players of course. the best scoring system of all time in my opinion is clone hero, where misses are penalized but not to a crazy extent, and there isn’t any accuracy element. if all you were doing was going for an fc, you can cheese streams in osu and pretty much exclusively get 100’s and 50’s as long as you overstream. looking at beat saber gameplay it looks and sounds exactly the same to getting bad accuracy on a stream in osu.
@sagittarius92373 жыл бұрын
@@wjjxkskqkw The only real rhythm element is the time window your swing angles are judged in. However, as someone who plays both Osu and Beat Saber, I think something like streams is way harder to cheese in Beat Saber since your swings are direction-dependent, so something like double tapping simply isn't a thing.
@wjjxkskqkw3 жыл бұрын
@@sagittarius9237 not even talking about trouble tapping more just over streaming on purpose
@stellasilverr3 жыл бұрын
@@wjjxkskqkw Beat Saber’s scoring system is the way it is because of its nature as a VR game; you’re moving in 3 dimensions. There are still timing windows, however that’s not the intentional method of gaining score. Also because of the fact that notes require you to hit them in a certain direction, trying to overstream will result in a ton of bad cuts.
