I enjoyed this video so much, thank you for making this and sharing the early history of Guitar Hero. Subscribed. I’m an old rhythm game fan. I first played Parappa the Rapper on a ps1 demo disc. In the summer of 2000 I got a retail copy of Um Jammer Lammy for my birthday. In high school I really enjoyed playing Harmonix’s first games, Frequency and Amplitude on ps2. When I found out about Guitar Hero in college, it was shortly before GH2 was released. I bought GH2 at midnight upon release, it’s still the only game I’ve done that for. From late ‘06-summer ‘07 is when I mostly played Guitar Hero. I managed to 5 star all of the songs in GH2, and then GH1, but I maybe only ever got 1 or 2 Expert FC’s. I started playing again the past few months or so. Only recently have I played GH3 and the other GH games on ps2 that were released after GH2. I feel like Guitar Hero is having a sort of renaissance which is cool to see. I feel the difficulty of GH1 & 2 is overlooked compared to later games. GH1 is brutal due to the HOPO mechanics. GH2 is difficult in its own right compared to the later games because of more strict timing, which GH1 has as well. I have so much respect for these players and what they’ve been able to accomplish. An accomplishment I think would be pretty cool is if someone could FC Texas Flood in GH1 with minimum strumming, using the original HOPO mechanics. I’m not even sure if it’s possible, but given the skill of these players, maybe it is. Thanks again for making this video and much love to everyone in the GH and rhythm game community.

The best part is when you have a very catchy music with amazing charting leveling both difficulty and fun makes you feel like a badass during the song

So we can officially say TobiGH3 is the Tosin Abasi of Guitar Hero? XD But seriously, the "rake strumming" is literally the same technique that's done on actual guitar called thumping. It was first popular on bass with guys like Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten but Tosin Abasi is the guy who started doing it in metal on guitar, I'm curious if Tobi even knew about it :)

Hmm...so all I am hearing it I should just keep using my apex pro. I do just use a controller most of the time but I want to use keyboards and arcade like controllers more. Granted I would just like to get a EZMAX+ since I mainly play DJMAX

Well just about four years later, and it's proven FNF actually has legs. And to be fair, a lot of that is from all the community-created content that's popped up around it (and said community has an absolute _truckload_ of drama within it), but even the base game has improved dramatically from those early days. As someone who considers himself a rhythm game veteran (started with FFR in 2005 and kept going since with stuff like StepMania), I'm actually really happy to see FNF act as an ambassador to get rhythm games back into the mainstream after the big crash around the turn of the 2010s, and the amount of genuine talent and creativity on display in mods and even the base game nowadays makes it a worthy addition to the genre in my opinion.

Hi, i'm thinking of getting a controller for djmax. I recently heard about sayodevice cm51+. There's not many reviews about this controller. So I'm not sure about getting it. I currently using a steelseries apex 350 which is turns out membrane keyboard. Its to heavy for harder difficulty. Should I get CM51+ or a newer keyboard (corsair k70)? Can you do a review about sayodevice cm51+

a "bit" late, but it really depends on what sub-community of geometry dash that you're looking at. one of the main ones that could arguably make geometry dash a rhythm game is the spam community. its not like the other rhythm games, but with the main method of spamming the people use known as alternating is honestly pretty rhythm based in my opinion because you are spamming with two different hands very rhythmically
