Beat the Clock - Helping women in Lebanon become self-reliant through education

Young Lebanese women and girls receive training and support to start businesses, allowing them to be more self-reliant, protect themselves and support their families. Together we will Beat the Clock.
Bartoul's parents supported her decision to refuse an early marriage proposal. But worried for her safety, they wouldn't let her leave the house for five months. "It felt kind of like a prison. I wasn't allowed to go out or interact with anyone. Those five months were tough on my mental well-being. I lived in fear, tiredness and anxiety."
At the end of her confinement, Bartoul was allowed to join a vocational training programme run by Plan International where she gained valuable business skills and started her own online business. "I started selling online and on social media. My first sale was a pair of sandals, I made only $2 out of it. I am so happy with the progress I have made."
