Amazingly skilled tutorial! This made me both jump out of my seat with joy (discovering that original George Duke song sample), and feel really sad (that they’ve split) at the same time. Music can be such a time machine and emotional rollercoaster, which is a privilege to get to ride

For the Da Funk lead, with the way the Analog instrument works you get a better filter resonance sound by raising the Filter Drive inside Analog to a higher value (yours is on Sym1, I suggest Sym3) than slapping an overdrive on at the end.

I believe the lead was done with an Korg MS-20. I’m able to get it pretty darn close if not exact. Nice to see it done in Ableton. I don’t remember it having such a wide chorus. Be careful of copyright strikes... the YT algorithm can get tripped up if it’s too close 🙃
@iraklismoschonas5214
@iraklismoschonas5214 3 жыл бұрын
I've read somewhere that the synth parts in the whole "Homework" album were done with a Minimoog, so possibly it was not an MS-20.

Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll by Vaughan Mason and Crew (1979) The first few bars of old disco records (if they weren't burnt in a fire in Chicago) are a great place to find real crunchy drum samples. People really like to use Italo Disco to sample too.
