Helium is my favorite because he represents beatboxing that is still beatboxing, and he's the best at it. I like the other stuff too, but these days it's all about who can make the most interesting sounds. Helium is not growling into the mic, making robot sounds, or playing a nostril trombone or whatever. Just super crisp technical drums and a rhythm.

Sick reaction Anthony! Watching you deconstruct and attempt the combos in these videos is awesome and is honestly the biggest reason I watch your reactions the moment I see them drop lol. You're really good at breaking the combos down and I think it helps people appreciate the depth of skill that these beatboxers are showing even more. I'd love to see you watch improver's round 2 wildcard for GBB23 (btw wildcards are tournament entries, and the top 24 or so winners had to do a second round of wildcards this year. It's a new format they're trying out.)

GBB wildcards is a sort of contest for people not yet qualified for the upcoming GBB. In the case of 2023 GBB there was two rounds of wildcards scored by GBB judges and the winners are able to compete on stage at the upcoming event in October. Obviously Helium made it :p Improver's Round 2 wildcard is also absolutely mindblowing

"Wildcards" are their submissions to the competition. GBB = Grand Beatbox Battle (number pertaining to the year) gbb 23 going down i think in october? japan? Other beatbox battles hosted by others have different names.. this year GBB required 2 wildcards from participants. Generally only one wildcard/submission is required but i think the volume of submissions is getting crazy.. Categories as well: (beatbox) Solo, Duo, Crew - (loopstation is another category you should check out! sick stuff!)

While there's hella more beatbox videos to check out you should do a bit more loopers as well: If you can clearly hear how far along beatboxers have come in a couple of years wait until you hear what loopers are doing now seemingly from thin air into fully produced tracks in like 30 seconds prep, 20 second prep or like 10 seconds for guys like Inkie that apparently just wills looping stations into crafting everything instantly.
