I have been following you for very long time and when I saw your growth in gbb21 I knew you will be gbb or world champ one day. I just wanted to ask what if you had won the world champs would you have still participated in gbb? Cause if you weren't planning to join gbb if you win the world champs then I think everything happened for a good reason. Gbb had the biggest prize pool and we got to see your new routines and compositions with good sound system. And I am glad it happened. Much love brother❤️🌊

Otherworldly. This is quite an important battle, it represents well the biggest standards of purely musical structured approaches there are, and such with a richness enough in the styles and rounds that, for me, each time i relisten to this battle, which is a really immersive and profound one, i find myself chaging the view of who i thought won. This is a masterclass, a piece of art by two of the finest ever. Despite prefering early River and his routines (before the mustache), the way that he found himself with his sensibility and sophisticated musical approaches is something that needs to be applauded for, it's hard to beat, and someone like Pacmax, on his peak of non stop creation, was able to do it here. This a battle for all the days, always something new to explore, feel, learn and discover.
@StayFr0sty9 ай бұрын
well put, how long have you been exposed to beatboxing? Was a solid win for pacmax always from first listen for me, but I've been listening to beatbox for 15 years or so now so my ear is quite developed xD
@hectorszechir1119 ай бұрын
Long answer ahead: I've been practicing beatbox for 5 years, and I also compulsively follow competitions and content in general, in a way that creates an ear and a particular perspective to watch all this stuff. For me, in battles with 4 rounds consistently arranged in a well-defined structure and characterization, it is usually difficult to find a fixed winner (Kenozen vs Footboxg, Zekka vs Colaps, Alem vs Blackroll, Wunknown vs Colaps/River, etc). Even more so when Pacmax and River are contrasting aspects of the sensitive and the vigorous; and a lot of the emotion of the rounds impacts this. I think their intentions are very solid and very well defined, at a point where for me it is subjectivity that defines the nearly flawless executions of each one of their ideas; one that always changes. On some days, River's "new" technical complexity doesn't completely sink in when I think about his classics ("My Way" and "By Ourselves") and favorites of mine (2019 era), which contradict him filling his beats with too many layers ("Liquid and Wicked", "Feel the Silence", "Moon", etc.), which therefore have a certain greater memorability; in others days, River's new approach becomes a delight. Other days, I think that Pacmax has better compositions than what he showed here (even though he is a consistent creator), or that the first round has some elements that don't completely captivate me in their completeness. Overall, I still think that Pacmax won because River' developed a sense of individuality that prevents his compositions from being outstanding beyond a technical sense at times, but that's just me. Pacmax combines a lot of liveliness and a solidity that is difficult to beat, which disarms the sophistication of River' which is very particular, in addition to the inconsistencies in pitch. But all of those are things that alternate from day to day, which is the consequence of an excellent battle; So, it's for a good reason. :)

what a horror and degradation in beatbox!) There is not a single adequate performer except Napom. Everyone farts, squeaks and hums under their breath. Boring. No one could even come close to depicting any beautiful sound of any musical instrument, not to mention that there is no melody or thoughtful composition of the performance. For many years now I have been watching every Beatbox Battle World Championship. And unfortunately after those great talents who performed at the third championship in 2012 (Skiller, Alem, Reeps One, Ball-Zee, DHARNI, and the list can go on. How is that possible? What happened to the current state of this area???? ((((

I was happpy pacmax won this, it was well deserved and he sounded way better than river imo. I love river a lot but sometimes he goes for combos that aren’t pleasing to the ear, and then doubles down on them becoming really skilled with them. 3:22 That vocal roll was game changer, but I think it was too early to release it. It was ultra high level, don’t get me wrong, but I think that 2 things in here have VERY great POTENTIAL: 1) The Voice Roll: the technique something not known by many of us. The voice of a human has something special, I think that roll could’ve cause soooo many different types of impact on the listener, just that he showed it in a battle. Battles and Art are not the same thing (on it’s 100%) Think at the Codfish’s 2019 The Summit performance. He used his developoed vocal roll on a beatbox song that USED A CONCEPT. He leaded us to crazy mystical sh*t, with a (for me), written letter from Peter Pan. The transmission there was unbelievable. 2) The Concept Idea: I think this is not too present in music, and not understood by many of people in the beatbox community (if we focus on them). It’s really great, cool, interestint, meaningful, appreciated, ETC, when you bring a concept into your song. You think of creating something with a concept in? Ok. You Freestyle and you think your routine express an emotion in particular? A mood? An aspect of life? A game? A moment in history?? The future? Fun? Intrigue? Mystic?? Continue on this and make sur it will develop all that concept that you feel. I wrote all this because I think River’s Vocal Roll used on his routine “Where My Heart Belongs” was applied to a battle, while there are cryterias for your music on battles, you form them as to be accepted by people (crowd, juries, online fans, fans: RELATED TO BATTLE YOUR MUSIC WILL NOT BE FREE) so the real problem comes here. You cannot make the greatest music, give your 100% artistically speaking if you’re doing things for battles, things for someone, it needs to have freedom in there. I think the “Where My Heart Belongs” was a super special routine but taken in a a wrong way. If this would be made for a showcase in a river showcase, I personally thibk the result could’ve been different in a positive way (and for me, it will always be) I would like to read your comments on this, please be kind and respectful, just debate.

Agree on that this is revolutionary technique. Somebody needs to show this to vocal masters/coaches, they will be shocked I guess
@snoopyr1953 Жыл бұрын
I think in the recent years battles have shifted towards more of a "who makes the better rounds" thing, rather than who has more energy in their rounds or aggressiveness. So beatbox as a whole has taken a musical dive especially after Codfish's win in 2018. I think River's second round was suitable for battles, just not executed very well. You could tell he was still experimenting around with the vocal roll and bringing out the surprise factor. In GBB he did it slower and transitioned to the last drop with more power-- and that went much better. I would argue that River lost here because his first round, while pretty dynamic, didn't have much going on compared to pacmax's first round. I can't wait to hear vocal coaches react to his new technique though.. defo could be a game-changer

It's raw audio i believe. I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound mixed. With a good enough sound engineer you could actually make this sound a lot better but i think they just want to push the videos out as fast as possible. I also really dislike the audio and it has nothing to do with money as someone commented. There's so many smaller live competitions with videos and they manage to do better than the literal world championships in terms of audio and video quality without any crazy kind of sponsors attached. It's been a hot discussion for years regarding audio quality for world champs, both in video-form and live venue audio. I do believe they upped the venue audio this event though so big up for that, but they need to realise that the videos matter too.

i felt pacmax was more creative with his sounds combos in 2nd round , while river in 2nd kinda made some small error in the beginning and his last drop combos kinda felt repetitive, what are your thoughts bro ?

Same. Reaver has style when Pacmax deliver all standart beats with few his own combos.

Is this the actual World Champs coz it doesn't really feel like it when compared to 2015 WC. 2015 WC was insane.
