Here in America, the only songs we heard from them was this one and Silence is Golden, so naturally most of us thought that they faded into obscuritry after that. I was just listening to this reminsicing- I was around 13 when this came out. I started looking at other videos and I couldn't believe they had a string of hits in other countries. There aren't very many articles about them online. Someone should write a book.

From South Africa: We used to "steal" my grandfather's transistor radio while he was working outside on the farm and listened to LM radio (who were broadcasting from Mozambique - Lorenzo Marques that is now called Maputo). We also listened until the PM9-battery went flat, then we put it in the coolest oven of the big AGA coal stove to "recharge" a bit. I remember how cross my grandfather was when he wanted to listen to the news and the battery's power was completely exhausted! We lived about 40km from town and could only drive there once a week! Petroleum was (and still is!) a VERY expensive commodity and couldn't be stored on the farm, unlike diesoline for the tractors and Lister enjin used for lighting.
