My point being: even though you may think a game is boring, different genres of games are made for different people. The effect of things becoming blurry is a system called Dynamic Resolution. It will raise and lower the res of the game according to the situation/location to help maintain a consistent frame rate.

@ I disagree. DOOM runs just fine on the Switch. Ark's problem is they don't know how to compress their assets. That's why on steam its nearly 100GBs

@ I would not say "horribly weak" The Switch is stronger than the Wii U. The Wii U is stronger than the 360. That's not bad. Nintendo has done some amazing things with the Switch. And the Shield TV (which has the same tegra chip the switch has) is running 360 era games rather well. We don't need a portable super computer. The Switch's battery life is already poor. Imagine what it would be if the thing was even stronger graphically.

When I saw the title of the video I though you would talk about how the Switch port is, but I realized you're making an actual review of the game (which was released for many other platforms) and your experience with it. That really got to me since I've been playing this game on PC for a while, and I can tell you, this is what the game has always been, the sounds, the graphics, the gameplay. The game's performance is really bad even on higher end PCs and on the other consoles it's been released on. But despite all of that we should all be surprised by how this game runs on the Switch and even mobile, granted that if even a high end PC can't run it properly, how would a handheld device be able to accomplish even half of the already horrendous performance of the other platforms?

I've been playing ARK on pc for about two years now and I have to say, it's an awesome game (Yes, that's my opinion and I understand that people have different opinions). It definitely has its bugs and flaws, but it's a bunch of fun. It's also one of the most time-consuming and hard games I have ever played... I was hopeful for the Switch version, but if it's this bad... the audio quality, the rendering.. just everything... (Although, when talking about performance, the game doesn't run well on any platform.) If you don't want to grind and die all the time, you can play on an unofficial or modded server with boosted rates or mods that make life easier. The game also gets a lot more fun the further you get into it. I'm not hating or trying to change people's opinions, but it's just something I had to say.

I still might get the game just because I know that it will get better as more updates come to it. Also, if you really like Ark, then you should definitely check out the KZbinr PeteZahHutt. He uploads daily extinction episodes on a KZbinr smp that he created.

I got this game because my daughter and her b/f were playing it, and they seemed to be having a ton of fun. yes, its not a visual, smooth-running treat... but I just love to play it.. every day brings a new disaster - oops, sorry - challenge - lol, which usually involves violent death. it's amazing. Not easy, no hand holding, but soooo much fun , and very compulsive. No regrets;)

Few things to take into consideration it was lighting up the area u press to level up and you yawned before you died because the Titanboa gave u a sleep effect before your death but other than that honestly it was helpful knowing about the horrible frame rates and rendering

Ark has a great Concept, but Wildcard executed it poorly and are almost nonredeemable. Unless they "No Man Sky" It, it's a buggy mess that has alot of memory leaks and glitches. If Wildcard pulls their head out of their tush and actually fix the game before releasing content, then this would be a great game. Not the Switch Version though. I get they want to get the game into as many hands as possible, but they need to fix the game before they move forward with it. Warframe on the Switch even runs smoothly. Why can't Wildcard swallow their pride and do the same?

The thing that made me laugh the most is how most of these issues are just typical Ark. Spawning where people have laid out homes, being attacked immediately, not really have any direction and needing to figure out for yourself how to do things like leveling up. That's standard Ark. Even the bad frame rates, sound effects, and not stellar graphics are typical Ark gameplay. However, I do agree that this game feels like something either in the code or design was done inefficiently that causes the bad performance and I wasn't expecting it to get much better going to handheld/console.

Tbh I enjoyed ark on ps4, but you did need people to play with as on a low rates server or just by yourself the work can be quite tedious and get boring quickly. The devs are OK but have a track record of rushing things out to try and meet a deadline, or extending a deadline for a disappointing end. They honestly should have held off releasing this to the switch and polished it up a bit, considering how well games such as warframe went.

I’m so torn about this title at one hand I love having ark on my switch and playing in my bed and taming where ever I’m at with the switch, but in the other hand the graphics are terrible and night cycles are very rough on the eyes. You’re basically bound to single player, with mods in this one until they fix this title.

I personally have this game on PS4 and I’ve had great fun on it even with all its bugs, all you need to do is play with a friend or 2 and it’s a great experience when you put its taming effectiveness up and what not and your on your own world it’s the best experience you can have

I watched a bunch of reviews of ark like this so i stayed away from it for years. I finally just bought it and its literally my most played game on the switch. I have 600hrs in it. It plays fine. The game play far out weighs any graphical problems it has. You either love Ark or hate it switch version or not.

@@klumper7 Ark is a terrible performing game, (Don't care about sales) I unfortunately brought the game because a group of friends was hyped for it and concept wise it looked interesting and that's where the fun ended for me, the game runs awfully! I've even tried the game with my One X and it's still awful! I've played Fallout 76 and it's not a great game, I enjoy the game but that isn't the point, the point is the Fallout 76 is obviously better technically the best comparison for Ark would be games like PUBG & Dead by Daylight, they look and run awful on consoles but you can enjoy them. Fallout is failing for many other reasons.

It's a great game in terms of gameplay, had a blast playing it on pc. The only problem is its optimalization, making it unplayable on switch. Performance is also pretty junky on PC, but even on my mediocre PC got 60 fps with quite good graphics
