The whole working out for one hour everyday thing is such a farce. Not to say that moving your body isn’t one of the best things you can do for your health, but there’s a ton of research that shows low intensity variable movement throughout the day is more effective than getting a work out in and, further, has better outcomes in the long term because it is integrated into daily life vs. scheduled. Finding movement that you enjoy is also a long-term predictor of success, so if you dread going to the gym, find something else. You’re going to figure that part out-100% and you’ll come out the other side with movement being something you look forward to. Buying into the “you have to put in the work if you want to see the results” is just another way society (cough…mostly men who don’t have our problems) make us feel like failures, which leads to….you guessed it-emotional eating!!!! I am just starting my journey with injectables and the thing I fear the most when I eventually have to go without it is the food part. I’ve got 40 years of dieting and gaining back to prove that this is something bigger than will power or discipline. Naturally thin people or people who don’t think about food all the time will never understand and forever judge.

AND let's not forget those of us in menopause. Menopausal weight doesn't budge because your hormones are unbalanced. So, weight gain/loss is a huge problem unless you're one of those women whose body don't align with most. It's hard!

You're correct. These drugs are not causing the gallstones. And it IS caused by the sudden weight loss! Happened to me before! But they go hand in hand.

@user-lu5cr3li2m My doctor pointed it out to me because I was doing everything right but receiving no results. I changed my diet and exercised. On my next visit, she shared with me my issue - my hormones are unbalanced, and until we get them balanced, the weight will remain. Menopause affects women in different ways. Mine is excessive weight gain. It bothers me that people are so quick to suggest diet & exercise but are clueless as to other underlying factors.

Let me say this. You are the reason I decided to go on Wegovy. I'm a breast cancer survivor who take drugs for hormones causing weight gain. I also had to start Bone Infusions due to cancer treatment also caused weight gain. In June 2021 I started a Breast Cancer walking challenge. I worked with a family mbr who is a former NFL player. My walking was treadmill, zumba, dancing....I hate regular walking. Let me sum this up. In 4 months I did 490 miles, built great muscle and lost 20lbs. In 2022 I slowed it down. I still have weight to lose but ppl said I looked great. I track food, exercise 5xs@week...everything but gained and then some. I had a meltdown. I went to primary and Oncologist talking about you and wegovy. I started the end of April and 25lbs down. I'm working on 15 more. I'm 5yrs Cancer Free and guess what? I'm 68yrs old and you helped me. Congrats on weight loss and health improvements. However, as a Stage 4 breast cancer thriver who has taken all those meds and then some and who has remained the same weight, I did not gain weight and there is no literature that says they cause it. Going into menopause may have slowed your metabolism, and you may have to adjust your diet slightly. But zometa, tamoxifen, etc don’t cause weight gain.

I have lost 43 pounds in 4 months with the help of Wegovy. The entire time I have been on Wegovy I have scheduled my workouts daily at the end of my work day so that I am leaving work (after 9 hours instead of staying longer) and I have a chance to decompress from my day before I go home to my family. In the past, if I didn’t workout before I got home, it was easy to let life and family distract me and I would not work out. My husband knows how important this is for my physical and mental wellbeing and he picks up the kids and makes dinner so that I can fit this into my day. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without his support. Thank you for sharing your journey. Don’t be afraid to let your husband support you in this way so that you can prioritize your health. The best way I've found for working out 1 hour a day is to split it up throughout the day: 15 min here, 30 min there, then another 15 min. As a working mom, you can also "create" time by delegating time-suck activities, like laundry. Find a local wash-and-fold for towels, bedsheets and babygirl's clothes. Doing that freed up so much time for me. Wishing you all the best! ❤

When you lose a lot of weight, especially quickly, you can develop gallstones. When i had gallstones and lost my gallbladder when I was 28, i lost 60 pounds and was eating healthy and not on any medication. The reason is that when you lose weight, the cholesterol from your fat builds up in your body and can end up in your gallbladder.

Unfortunately I missed the wave when it was available and have been waiting since June to receive my Rx. I also have gallbladder/gallstone issues as well……hence why I say I can relate to you so much. The only difference is I’ve never taken Wegovy and the doctor I saw about my gallbladder recommended that I NOT get mine removed. My mom and sister had theirs removed and told me that things will only get worse if I don’t so I’m going to go to a different doctor. Thank you so much for sharing your story! It has let me know that there are others out there dealing with the same things. I pray for your continued success with weight loss…….and I pray for consistency for the both of us. 🙏🏾

I was watching this and I did not see your previous videos. I’m a pharmacist and my first thought about you’re weight you couldn’t get under control and the irregular periods, was PCOS. Because gall stones do not form that fast but they may have sped up their development due to Wengovy. I have not seen this clinically yet but what I have seen is bowel obstruction and a psychological addiction, because people don’t correlate the loss of appetite with weight loss. Currently, I encourage people to eat healthy when they are on it so when they get off it, they’ll probably gain some back but not like before they were ever on it. My patients that take the healthier eating route do still gain a little back but not all of it. The jury is still out, I’ll continue watching but I’m currently at 5:36 and I will go back and watch the rest of your journey. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you listened to your intuition, read the materials, got off that medication, and listened to the specialist before things got really bad. It's a drug with a lot of potential, but the side effects aren't fully understood by most people, including doctors. You are a smart, beautiful woman, and you deserve a life without gallstones and pancreatic issues. My brother barely survived pancreatitis, and he never fully recovered. About four years later, my brother passed away of kidney and liver failure, probably caused by the pancreatic damage. I'm glad that's not going to be you. Since youve asked for advice (I know I'm late to the party, but for what its worth) I've struggled with my weight for most of my life, and the only thing that's kept my appetite under control and weight down has been ketovore (carbs mess with me, and make me starving) and an hour a day on the indoor cycle. KZbin has some good virtual cycling videos, and the scenery (and some music) makes the time pass quickly. I'd suggest breaking it into a couple of shorter workouts - it's easier to fit it in around other things in your life/day. You got this ❤

You mentioned he’s a gym enthusiast, so on the days he goes pick two days out of the week that you go with him if you can get childcare. Some gyms also offer a kids club, so you can bring the little one with you. But start off slow, don’t overwhelm yourself. Also maybe start writing down what you eat. Before I have a snack I now ask myself, when was the last time I had a meal? Do I want this snack or did I wait too long to eat? And if I think I just want that snack then I ask can I make it healthy? Can I cut up a seasoned chicken breast and eat that? Can I replace chips with carrots and hummus? Instead of a piece of chocolate how about yogurt, honey and berries? It’s a process but you’ve come so far and you have a great support system! You can do it!!! 💗

I completely understand everything you've feeling about having to get off of the wegovy. I too, am on it but I am also a bariatric patient as well. My highest weight was 192 before I decided to get the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. That in itself was great! Along with some major changes in my eating abilities and habits. I have been doing well on wegovy thus far, with a few side effects but manageable. I am saying all this to say, if it is possible for you to consider the surgery, I recommend it. It gives you the ability to restrict over eating and what you can. I am at a weight of 145 lbs now but did get to 135lbs until I myself as well as family and friends telling me that just looked too skinny for me. I actually looked sick, especially in my face. I am happy where I am now, and between the sleeve surgery and wegovy I'm maintaining a healthy weight. Both these tools are helpful. I did have some of your health issues as well as thyroid and blood pressure, mitral value prolapse. So I have had good reasons for both these strategies to combat these problems and glad to say that at age 58 in November, I am very well now. Good luck to you on the rest of your journey!😊

So frustrating how I dealt with the pain for so long, before finally my second emergency room visit led to an ultrasound and they found my gallbladder was completely shot, I had to have an emergency surgery done to have it removed because it was so bad! I feel so much better without it! The only draw back is the urgency when you have to go #2, sorry for TMI but, it's true!

I have had my gallbladder removed years ago, and I stuggled with IBS because you really shouldn't eat fatty foods without a gallbladder, the need to use the bathroom almost after a meal ( for me ) was what I found to be the most annoying. So, the gallbladder concern won't be an issue, but the pancreas concern will. I will continue to follow you and cheer you on as you go through this next phase and hopefully continue the weight loss journey. My one thought I had though was, your dr said to remove the gallbladder, ok, but then also said once the gallbladder is removed you could go on to use Wegovy, but if it effects the pancreas wouldn't that still be a concern ? I guess one thing at a time, fix what you know to be the problem now and fix what arises later, later if needed.

Hey dear, I understand you very well, I also have PCOS and have been on Mounjaro since April, my advice to you is to do your workouts at home, that’s what works for me, because if it’s raining or snowing that will be my excuse to not go to the gym. Hope this helps ❤

I got my gallbladder removed a few years ago and I wanted to share my a few things others may not. Once your gallbladder is removed you will have diarrhea for a bit and some foods will make you gassy. Also you may feel full longer because it will take your body longer to breakdown food because the bile that is produced will not be as concentrated without a gallbladder. So be mindful of what you are consuming. Having no gallbladder is definitely an adjustment

I started having the gallbladder colics when I was pregnant with my second child. I thought I was in labor, the pain was so intense. It’s too bad you have to pause the medication. Please don’t invalidate yourself and your feelings about being forced to continue without the meds. I felt the same about my journey to weight loss. No one around me was gaining weight at the same rate eating the same things and I blamed myself completely before being diagnosed with PCOS. In my opinion what you are feeling is normal. But, being encouraged that restriction works and finding ways to restrict that mimic what Wegovy/Ozempic was doing will be my plan of action when my doctor tells me it’s over. The shortage has arrived in Canada so it is harder to get the meds now.

What stopped me from gaining weight was counting my calories. Once I knew how much calories I burned per day, which is right about 2000 I made sure I always stayed within that. Cooking at home and meal planning helps, but I still go out and eat what I want . I just always try to be conscious of how many calories I’m consuming. Just have to say, I think you are doing the right thing not being on it. I just watched a Andrew Huberman video with Robert Lustig a few days ago and he talked about how people are losing a lot of muscle taking this (like 50% muscle 50% fat) and it can literally turn your stomach to stone (I'm guessing he means paralyzing it as the other video I watched today explained.) He thinks as time goes on it's possible these will also be removed from the market like the other's have been (like Fen Fen and my personal favorite Meridia) due to the bad side effects that are only starting to be seen as time goes on with the amount of people on it. Today after I watched your video the algorithm gave me a video from Idaho Bariatric & Metabolic Institute in that video the Bariatric Dr explains exactly what it's doing to your body, pretty interesting information and not in a good way as it negatively affects your Vagus nerve... 😬

Do yourself a favor, get a trainer. It's expensive but not as expensive as not prioritizing your mental health. Be honest with yourself. If you think it's hard to go to the gym and stay focused, you need a trainer to take the guesswork out of getting a consistent workout routine. I work out with one 3-4days a week and now I find myself creating my own 1-2 days a week. It works. Remember you are now working out not to be a burden on your family with health issues. I workout at 5am MWF and do a 9 or 11 am workout on Tuesday and Thursday. If you find a group, like Camp Gladiator, or F45, you’ll build bonds with other people who have hectic lives but prioritize themselves by working out, which helps make it feel like less of a burden. One day at a time! You got this girl!

I developed gallstones after less than six months on a radically low calorie, ZERO fat diet to drop weight in anticipation of a surgery that I needed. I was having some digestive issues and, by coincidence I'd seen a gastro and had a VERY in-depth, month-long investigation that included endoscopes up and down both ends, a CT scan, AND a ton of bloodwork not long before I began this diet. My gallbladder was in perfect condition. I had a fantastic doctor who sat me down after the crisis had passed and broke down how this happens. When we dump weight fast, our liver is cranking out the biproduct of shrinking fat cells, namely cholesterol. Our body keeps our cholesterol levels at a set point (just like we automatically stay around 98.6 degrees for temp) and that excess cholesterol has to get out somehow. The exit is through the gallbladder, into the intestines, and into the toilet. That's not necessarily a problem for us at all. The problem happens when we don't eat enough fat. Our gallbladder needs us to eat a specific amount of fat IN ONE SITTING to stimulate a contraction. I've heard a few numbers tossed about, but 20g of fat appears to be most common. Now let me be clear, it's not 20g a day total. It's 20g IN ONE MEAL. And the gallbladder needs one good contraction a day to empty. So the liver is dumping all of this excess cholesterol into the gallbladder and, if we're eating too little fat, we aren't getting those contractions at all. The cholesterol that's sitting there has time to clump up and - here we go - now we have developed gallstones VERY quickly. At some point we do eat a bit of fat, the gallbladder tries to contract, and one of those stones immediately clogs the drain. Now we're in trouble. From what I've see in personal research, this is a very common side effect of any diet that's too low in fat and rapid fat loss. This is one of the many reasons why programs like Slimfast recommend eating one meal a day and all of their suggestions give you that specific amount fat. *Theoretically, this means if someone has the discipline to have a meal with 20-25g fat every single day, they should be able to avoid gallstones on this diet. But I'm concerned that this might not be true. Both Weg and Ozem have pancreatitis as a side effect. Both medications work by triggering a type of gastroparesis. It's weird because gastroparesis is considered a side effect of the meds, but when you look into it, it's actually the mechanism of action. I suppose the trick is to trigger a mild gastroparesis, but not severe enough to send you to the hospital.* I don't know if a steady meal a day with fat will fix this problem because the med may actually cause the gallbladder not to function properly any way. Or you may not get the fat that you do eat because it's just sitting in the stomach and slowly leaking into the intestines at an unpredictable rate. There may be no way to avoid the problem on these meds.

Why do you suppose people on GLP-1s haven't had gallstones after a year of injections, give or take? Play your theory from the other side of the chessboard, if you will.
@vociferonheraldofthewinter2284 Жыл бұрын
@@twitterblackdove Happily. Probably the same reason I didn't have gallstones the other times I fasted. I consumed enough fat in my small one meal a day to get the contraction. Another factor are your cholesterol levels. If they're particularly low, it doesn't take as much to keep the pipes clear. Then there's just youth. Young people get away with MUCH more abuse of their bodies than older people. There's a reason why girls in their teens and 20's often fast without issues, but 40+ year olds are rolling the dice. My larger point is that it *can* be an issue. The way to help protect yourself from gallstones is to have 20g of fat once a day. Hell, if you just have some butter or cream in your coffee it's enough. As someone who's had gallstones, I just have to say, 1/10. I really do NOT recommend. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. But take the risks your career can handle and good luck.

I also didnt really want to workout but i knew i had to start so that i could lead a healthier lifestyle so I got a personal trainer for 6 months and we’d workout 2x per week. I will say that once you start a routine (maybe put some money behind it like i did by getting a trainer) you’ll see that working out isn’t so bad and that the time to do it is there/always has been there. I just finished my 6 months with the trainer and am continuing to workout on my own 2x a week. I’m finding that really food is the hard part and working out isn’t so bad, you just have to start. Starting out just do a 30 minute workout in the morning and choose something else later, like a dance party with the baby in the kitchen before dinner (kids are a ball of energy) or maybe a walk with the family after dinner while the weather permits. I, too, need to make the same lifestyle change as I am on Mounjaro. I have been letting the medication do all the work, but my doctor says that at some point, the body will adjust, and the weight loss will stop. I have to make the lifestyle change in diet and exercise in order to keep my A1c under control and continue weight loss to get under the obesity BMI. You are not alone. I HATE being hungry and SWEAR that wegovy helped me with an internal sugar problem that was already there for me undiagnosed. This Wegovy is finally giving me success that I think I've always earned deserved. You deserve it too! So proud of you and your self care and wt loss... Getting the PCOS diagnosed and now gallstones is part of your self care...just a twist and turn on the self care road right now(and you are really great at handling change from what you've shared on your channel.) The fear is valid but you are not at square one...far from it! Don't let the fear or past shame sneak in to take your momentum away. Get that gallbladder out (it's super easy to recover from! Literally a weekend!!! So don't delay or fear that at all, I promise!) Find your thing that you enjoy and then let it always change and evolve to work for you when it gets boring or quits being possible. My thing is to work out twice a week at CrossFit (SUPER scaled to my ability level) and I LOVE it! I seriously feel in love with it and it makes me feel powerful. It's how I learned to deal with my feelings of shame, guilt frustration depression or anxiety. Exercise releases endorphins which is the same chemical as morphine but naturally released from my body. I really enjoy the workouts. Man I wish we lived closer (I'm in Atlanta) and I would bring you to one of my classes or I'd walk at the park with you! ❤❤❤ If you're ever in the Atlanta area let me know and let's have a walk or a workout and coffee on me!❤❤❤ Hang in there. Currently on a weight loss journey. Down 22 pounds. What has helped me the most is meal prepping and creating a gym in my home. Treadmill, bike, weights, punching bag, row machine, resistance bands, etc. If you have the space in your home and the budget, cut out the commute to the local gym. Makes it easier to get the 1 hour workout in. And if you can’t do that… home video programs work just fine. Or getting a trainer to hold you accountable at the gym if you really want to do the gym.

At the age of 23 my parents took me to the ER, my mom being a nurse knew I needed to be admitted. I was having stomach pains that were different and couldn’t explain. After a CT, I was diagnosed with pancreatitis and they couldn’t understand why with me being so young. After a few days of tests they found out my gallbladder was completely full of stones which was causing my pancreatitis as it had nowhere to fully release the glucose in my body. It was so inflamed that anytime I’d eat I would vomit, and I couldn’t even stand in my own. So, I was on a no food diet until my surgery which honestly I was fine with due to being in so much pain. All the night nurses thought I was diabetic. It wasn’t until they removed my gallbladder that my pancreas went back to normal. So, I’m glad to hear that you have a specialist that knew to tell you to do this. He’s sounds like a great doctor and you’ve done an amazing job with your weight loss journey. Don’t give up and give yourself some grace. You can do it. 💜
