How to cheat it: When you are sitting in the chair and the investigator asks you a question, just change the question in your head. For example: "Did you rob the bank?" In your head you change it to "Did you rob the bank(in your dreams)". Since you have not dreamed about it, you won't lie. Now you passed the test.

This might be a bit late, but it only tells you if you failed if there are any changes to your breathing, sweat, or pulse. So if you sweat a lot, then it will only detect even more sweat or a higher pulse. At least that's my guess.

@@rangel6242 Sorry, your wrong. Polygraph is a prop, a scam. I found out the hard way. Since then, I have become aware of other resources to back my statements. #1 our US Supreme Court in an 8 to 1 majority, ruled in the case of US vs. Scheffer 1998, that the polygraph is as reliable as “the toss of a coin.” #2 the 1997 Senate Judiciary testimony of FBI polygraph expert Dr. Drew Richardson explaining that polygraph is comparable to a Tea leaf or Astrology reading. #3 the 60 Minutes episode titled “Truth and Consequences” with Diane Sawyer and featuring polygraph expert Doug Williams as he demonstrates for her investigation into polygraph about its complete use as a prop, as a fraudulent tool. #4 if your interested, you can even see a special with ABC journalist Ross as he debunks another similar prop called the CVSA (Computer voice stress analyzer) and exposes the phony Dr. Charles Humble (not a real doctor) and the Pentagon’s conclusion that it, like the polygraph, “is as reliable as the toss of a coin.” I hope that helps your journey for “truth” on the matter.

Polygraphs are essentially useless against psychotics and sociopaths. . Being a psychotic / sociopath isn't like the popular belief. In summation, its simply being able to decide to do anything you want, without the emotional ramifications everyone else gets. You can literally decide to feel guilt, decide to feel jealous, decide to feel afraid, and decide to feel nothing. . For that reason psychopaths can quite simply just decide to be emotionless, and undetectable for a polygraph.

If you ever get a chance to test a lie detector operator, do this: Have him test 10 people. Tell him in advance that ONE of the people had to have stolen money, because there was money missing, and only those 10 people had any slightest possibility of access to the money. Do this when, in fact, there was NO MONEY MISSING to begin with! You will find that the polygraph operator WILL give you a suspect, every time! If his system was accuarate, there would be NO suspect.

I actually had to take a polygraph yesterday. Before the test, I was interviewed and then hooked up to a machine where we tested out how it looks when I lie. They did this by handing me a mix of cards with a number on em and having me pick one. Then, I had to answer no to each number when he asked if the number I picked was such and such. I picked the number 3. When he asked about 3, I didn't even feel my heart pound any harder or faster or my breathing get any heavier. He guessed my number!

Adam Opera The assholes giving these tests know they can't have too many false positives, or nobody would get hired for positions that screen with this crap. So after the test they question about "deceptive answers" they detected. If the person admits to some irrelevant or lesser offense related to the question. Or they adamantly say they weren't lying. In both cases the examiner just guesses or decides based on some quota whether or not to "fail" the subject. So really, the true polygraph test is the followup questioning. You better be sure the examiner likes you. Or doesn't already think you're guilty before the test.

Actually, torture usually doesn't work. Its the threat of torture that gets to people. When they are presented with the possibility of torture, people will want to prevent the experience. But if they are already experiencing it, they know that they can handle it, as they have been doing thus far. Now, threatening to intensify the torture works too, just not as well.

You have to have to score on a lie detector is a +6 or higher in order to pass the polygraph exam. +6 or higher on a polygraph exam represents known as no extreme deception indicated means Subject has told the truth. The other counterpart of a polygraph exam is the lowest score of a -6 or lower on a polygraph exam represents known as heavy amounts of extreme deception indicated means Subject did not tell the truth.

I make it with absolute supporting evidence: the test was done at Western Sizzlin Steak House in Havelock, NC, in 1985. The polygraph operator was Jeff Melvin of Raleigh, NC. Only one example, but this was a real world test. He gave the name of ONE waitress. In actual fact, no money was missing, a fact not revealed to Melvin until later. There were actually more than 10 people tested, only variation between the example I show in my earlier post.

Lie detectors are pointless because detectives know the damn truth; they just need for you to man up and say it.

i remember hearing about that. but so what? thats one guy's judgement. after all, polygraphs measure the difference of answers, so its all based on judgement. but just cause that happened with 1 guy in the 80s doesn't mean all polygraphers can attributed to the same fault. its like racism, as forming your opinion one specific instance and labeling others because of it. and when being asked a nerve racking question, you may become more nervous, which results in failing the test or viceversa

I get super nervous and anxiety if a person thinks I'm lieing or if even I just think a person thinks I'm lieing so when I'm being question or just explaining myself I get obviously noticeably nervous and uncomfortable so my blood pressure goes up making me flushed or hot feeling i studder or stammer my words and talk realy fast ..but its because i want to explain myself and clear any suspicion right away i already have trouble with eye contact in any situation the moment I go for it and look somone in the eyes I look away so fast because it makes me uncomfortable so that is happening ..and since the person already thinks I'm lieing or if I already think the person is not going to beleave me my confidence is just non existent. ..
