@@denarto1920 If the theory of homeopathy had any merit there would be no life on earth considering the effect large amounts of certain materials have on biology as a whole. According to the theory humanity would be dying of lead/mercury/radioactive material poisoning from the very miniscule amount they may come into contact with either from dirt of the less than 1 ppb in different products we consume. Any impurity in the fake medicine would be amplified far greater than the medicine would and as a result would overshadow the effect of the supposed medicine.

@@thatrandom_canadian Are you familiar with the concept of signal to noise ratio? When making a homeopathic remedy they start with the substance and highly purified alcohol and/or distilled water. Each step of the process uses the same. The Signal in whatever (unknown as yet) form of energy is in the substance is strengthened as it is diluted repeatedly in the correct way with the same relatively low energy diluent. Instead of relying on your intellect to work on this problem why dont you just experience it in the various ways possible: do a homeopathic proving, learn some skills to treat an animal, or plant or yourself for a non-serious acute condition, or get chronic care from a practitioner. That will clear up your view of it

I could literally go to a creepypasta site, or a fan fiction site, and read stories that have as much verification as the stories on that site. So no, they don't come. I've welcomed any evidence that spirits exist my whole life (purely because I think it'd be fascinating), even while I was being dragged through long hours of prayer and service with the foster family I used to live with, and there has been ZERO evidence in my life that spirits exist, and there's been zero actual evidence that any sort of spirits exist.

I'm kinda middle between past lives because think of how many sperms one man's testicles hold, I think it's millions or billions, something like that. Now if they all have a soul, then we'd have millions potential souls hanging around in our testicles. And what about bacteria, do they have souls too? Or does soul start to inhabit the body after sperm meets egg cell and they mingle for a while? I'm leaning a bit on that, but not sure, because for all we know the sperm cells and bacteria might have more sentience than we think. But if they dont, then it's doubtful they have souls either. It's commonly accepted in most of not all religions and spiritual philosophies that the soul leaves the body after death. That indicates that soul wasn't there during the sperm phase, but after the embryo was formed, because otherwise soul would scatter into all these bacteria and soul residue would be consumed by whatever sentients who consume the dead body, feeding on the soul too. I think some cultures believe that eating parts of your enemy gives you their power, even soul power, so who knows. It doesn't matter what the general consensus is on soul cycle and the existence of soul, and it doesn't matter if charlatans purposefully pollute this issue with their greed and egoism. What matters is how things really are in this issue and being superficial and taking the easiest answer without consideration is intellectual dishonesty. Only your ego gains from intellectual dishonesty, and ego is a primitive survival mechanism for us to surpass our physical limits, not an intellectual power.

You know what’s sad… Just three years before this, Sylvia Browne told Amanda Berry’s mother her missing daughter (Amanda) was dead, ON Montel’s show. In 2013, Amanda Berry was one of the 3 girls who escaped Castro’s basement, after nearly a decade in captivity. Her mother, the one Sylvia told this “news”, died in 2006 believing her daughter was already dead. So, when Randi made this speech, it was 3 years after Brown told Berry’s mother, 1 year after that mother passed away, and Amanda Berry was creepily fighting to survive shackled in a brutal man’s basement. The very moment he was speaking these things, that poor girl was proof…and we wouldn’t even know for 6 more years. Just a very sad & creepy thing, to think about. Scary. What is going on right NOW, that none of us know, but will find out in the coming years. Just eerie. Even when this was posted on KZbin, we STILL didn’t know, about Amanda Berry.

I can't stand homeopathy, but what really pissed me off was a commercial I saw for homeopathic pain pills for pets. That's worse than tricking people. If the pain is in your head, the placebo effect will make it go away. If it's real, you'll not take it again. But for pets, they can't make these decisions; they're stuck with the pain while their owners delude themselves into thinking their pets are better. It's simply animal cruelty.
@mssrus6 жыл бұрын
And yet, it WORKS on animals! When they stop whimpering or vomiting or scratching, they aren't saying that they THINK they're feeling better...they ARE feeling better! Why is this so difficult to understand?

Placebo works on animals, infants and their gardians. It's a pretty well understood mechanism.

@@thear1s I'm not sure that I understand what you mean. Are you saying that non-drugs make critters, babies, and their parents better, or maybe that all three groups just imagine that they're better after taking placebos? Homeopathics made my cat's rash go away, so I definitely like them.
@thear1s6 жыл бұрын
That's one possible scenario of what happens when your cat takes a placebo. Several things can happen: the owner's bias (expects to see improvements that aren't that notable), the illness goes away by itself (like most of the illnesses for which homeopathy is prescribed) and/or good old placebo effect (daddy/owner/doctor is taking care of me, it's going to be alright). The potency of the placebo can change depending on factors such as if the doctor is aware he's giving a placebo and the price of the pill. We're too quick to think psychological effects don't happen on animals and infants too. In your cat's case, it could be a coincidence (two things that happen at the same time may not be linked), or psychological factors. Both are much more likely than the chemical effect of a sugar pill for which overwhelming scientific experimental evidence show they don't work better than placebo. In short: giving these pills to your cat is probably better than doing nothing, but if an effective medical treatment exists, you should definitively prioritize using it.

garima deo Thanks for the prompt response. Unfortunately, that gives me a 404 error. Maybe provide a proper link. Also, I asked for your proof, and I am not sure a google book would qualify as your proof of treating paralysis patients, am I right?
@nitin-pillai7 жыл бұрын
garima deo Sure, I wish you could show me the proof. A million dollars from the James Randi Foundation and most possibly a Nobel Prize await you if you could come forth with a proof. With all this, you will be able to bring a lot more smiles to people all around the world if you could prove homeopathy works for paralysis. Just imagine how many people would be so happy to find themselves cured! I really encourage you to come forward with the proof. On a side note, the foundation I work with has a ton of documented cases of people who reported no improvements with homeopathic medicines and in the case of fatal maladies, eventually death because they refused to believe in anything but homeopathy. Quite a few cases that are facing prosecution in the court too. Anyways, I rest my case here. Sadly, the same thing repeats, not a single proof from homeopathy. I am even willing to get the proof from your place if you please so. Until a proof comes forth, from the so called practitioners of *"Homeopathic* *Medicine"* themselves, homeopathy is indeed labelled quackery. Have a great day ahead.
@nitin-pillai7 жыл бұрын
garima deo Thanks for the link. The book very conveniently mentions only that "anecdotal evidences exists". And the two papers mentioned in the book have in *no* *way* confirmed that homeopathy is a legit medical practise. I invite you to go through the length and breadth of those two papers mentioned. There are a ton of "anecdotal evidences" for all kinds of sorts and sorcery in this world btw, all to be disproved and dispersed when seen and followed through with reason and science.

@I'lleatyou Let me take a guess at what the original commenter meant and try to help you understand. A portion of this Ted Talk had to do with deception (the fake microphone, the glasses which were only rims). Because of this, as a joke, Martin Burn decided it would be funny to take that to the obvious extreme: The speaker, who is clearly an older man, in actuality being a young man with a fake beard. Martin Burn's comment is comedic in nature because while fitting the narrative that this Ted Talk has, it would be a much greater and more unbelievable deception than the previously mentioned occurances, if the speaker was young, going against some of the most readily apparent information we have and our basest assumptions about it.
