I swear speedrun techniques are like finding out Santa Claus actually is real after all. In a game already chock full of secrets, it's wild to see not only how it's done, but think of how it was even discovered. We used to have the Game Genie to break the rules, but even that was nothing compared to how the speed running community sometimes literally rewrites the game code to shave off seconds to the credits.

Personally for self imposed challenges i prefer to go the emotional route. Beating SotN after a devastating breakup. Kill Dracula while wondering when it was that Jenny stopped loving you. I think this category should be changed to "Level 1 run" or "No experience run" instead of "pacifist run" since you still killing to solve the conflicts, just not recieving exp for that. Great run by the way!

This is one of the oldest speedrun categories and it's based on the game's kill counter on the menu, which remains at 0 the whole run, hence the name. That's why killing Dracula doesn't count either, since the counter can't be accessed after the final battle (and also Dracula doesn't really "die" at the end, this is a Castlevania after all) 😆

Open the secret gear door on clock tower, stand in it and use a neutron bomb or so to hit the gear again. The door will close and it will push you through the floor as well. You can do this on inverted castle to get outside the castle for a bit.
