I always wished that there was an alt ending for Sgt.Boykin. If you grabbed the full Army Uniform from the gunshop and went into the encounter he would think you were from his unit and then you "snap him out of it" and bring him to the safehouse

Yep, they made some interesting plot changes in Off the Record, and that would’ve been a nice one. To the point that I didn’t buy the game for years because I assume it was mostly just a character swap, a la the bonus modes in Castlevania on PS2 and similar? In either edition, the “take Denyce to Sgt. Boykin” is a fun achievement, especially because not only are survivors a lot smarter in the 2nd game, but give even 1-2 shotguns?

@@MegaManXPoweredUp As I recall they nerfed some of the Buffs you can use. In DR2 you could wear one piece of the special costumes, like Ninja and still get the Special Costume Buff. So I always end up wearing one piece of each and getting the Leadership Magazine and it made escorting survivors much easier. In OTR, they made it so you only get Special Costume Buff when you wear a full set and I recall them nerfing some of the Magazines Buffs too.

Fun fact, the tiger in the Tiger boss fight actually counts as a survivor and you can save it. You need to find fresh meat in the area. You'll need exactly three. They need to be dropped so he'll feed on them, one at a time, as he is preparing to pounce at you. Getting him to actually stop and eat each bit of meat can be a bit frustrating but it's doable. Probably best to watch a quick "How to" guide before attempting. Absolutely awesome little alternative outcome to that boss fight!

I think it’s Off The Record that has the Ninja costume that you can assemble that makes you invisible to zombies. I went to the game with ease once I found all the pieces.

Yep. There's also the psychopath outfit, but it's very difficult to get without a guide to tell you where everything is. Notably, the psychopath outfit acts as a permanent painkiller, making it so if you wear all the pieces (or just 1 piece in 2), the damage you take will be halved, making you quite durable. It stacks with an actual pain killer (combine 2 beer in any blender), and you'll be immensely durable, very difficult to kill. I did a similar challenge in Off the Record where I used hacks to force my level to be stuck at 1 so I couldn't level up, using pain killers and that outfit made the game a lot easier.

In both games, unlockable costumes give you bonus effects if you wear the full outfit, but DLC only requires 1 item to work. So in DR2, you only need 1 Ninja piece to make it work, but because it's unlockable in OTR, you need the whole suit.

For those who want to know: The reason why the counter suddenly rises (see what I did there) to 1 without him killing zombies is because sometimes he accidentally shoots a zombie and they bleed out. It happens if you dismember a zombie and they survive, they'll eventually die and count it as a kill.

Dead Rising 2 challenge runner here, the challenge itself is much easier in Off the Record as I've done it myself because I did a minimum levels challenge which inherently also requires not killing zombies. In OtR, Frank just jumps on the train instead of having to take a bike, which means he won't have to avoid killing zombies on a bike. Also, fun fact, in OtR, there's a way to easily cheese the camera to get a LOT of PP. In the Uranus Zone, you can pick up an infinite amount of alien probes. If you set a bunch down in 1 spot and take a picture of the pile (or if you make multiple piles), each probe will give PP.

But there's also a lot of special interactions, challenges, and more that will earn you pp. That's just the few things I remember of the top of my head, is been a few years also.

2 things i'd like to bring up, and I don't know if you've addressed them yet. 1: You forgot to recruit Snowflake and the other survivor you get when you recruit her. 2: Linette's shortcut IS 2 way.

I'm going to guess his playthrough was mostly blind (or maybe he played in the past and had things he didn't remember), because there's quite a bit that he didn't do that would have helped immensely. I wasn't around for the stream if he does stream (in fact, only reason I know of this video is because of the r/DeadRising subreddit), so I don't know if anyone told him there. Honestly, a lot of people playing the first time don't even know it's possible to tame Snowflake, which is understandable. Her AI is an absolute mess, especially if you know what you are supposed to do, there's a pretty good chance she'll attack Chuck/Frank instead. Alright, now that I'm below the show more zone, I probably can safely share stuff that could be considered spoilers by some, who knows, I just want to be on the safe side.. He missed the Tape it or Die event. If he knew about it and did it, he would have gotten the plate launcher, a weapon that I feel he would really enjoy just being able to cut through zombies with plates going 100 MPH. You cannot have infinite survivors with you. The game is hard coded to limit you to having 8 at once. This also counts when it comes to side missions, if you have 6 survivors on you, and a mission is supposed to pop up that would reward you with 3, it just simply won't give you the mission until you have less survivors, either by rescuing them or other means of getting them out of your party (like by killing them or making them defect). Edit: Additionally, he didn't have to buy all the Zombrex he did, the game expects you to explore for it. He did find the ones from the survivors, which I will give him credit for. I'll mention the other locations that I know of off the top of my head where you can get it for free (you can easily beat the game without buying Zombrex). One is in the Americana Casino. There's an area in Bennie Jack's BBQ shack where you can climb on top of some lighting fixtures. If you can carefully travel along them and reach the other side, there's a free Zombrex just chilling there. Another is in the Slot Ranch Casino. Behind the stage area, there are some platforms you can climb up, and there's another free Zombrex. Another one is in the Yucatan Casino. There's a structure you can climb up which not only has an LMG, but another free Zombrex. Underground on one of the raised areas is another free Zombrex, although it can be a bit hard to find. Also, Sven has another Zombrex that some don't know about. On the 3rd day around 9 PM, he will have a hidden mission (not announced by Stacey) where he wants some Vodka. Give it to him and he will give another free Zombrex.

I can imagine doing this myself and probably making less mistakes, but that's just my own (probably very incorrect) opinion. Sullivan is actually a pretty good fight. You got to dodge his attacks until he throws a front kick, and if you hit it just afterwards he enters a vulnerable state in which you can make some damage with your weapons.
