James martinelli is crap, just observe his approach when it comes to taking on a defender 1v1. He stands them up and does this stupid stutter step and he waits and waits and waits for the defender to make the first move eventually allowing for others to get back in defense and passing it backwards or running it down the line. He isn’t decisive enough to take the first action to commit the defender and it’s clear to see this is a coaching error, cuz the whole fanbase is screaming for him to play at different speeds and slow it down and I think he’s taking it too serious to the point where he’s afraid to make that first move when dribbling. At this point I think it’s better for arteta to just let him run riot and be chaotic again instead of trying this approach, yes he might give the ball away etc but he’s damn well good at playing at 100mph head down and running at ppl. Look how saka beats a defender, he always makes the first move, and that’s y id start Jesus or sterling on the left cuz they also are very decisive when it comes to their dribbling. Martinelli is an instinctive player and it’s best for him to go back to his instincts rather than to play in this controlled slow manner

Pep new system is 3-1-6 during attack, and 4-3-3 defensively; hence easier to counter attack and the likelihood of using Martinelli for his pace. Watch for Rico who is now inverting from RB to a 2nd 10 on the right to complement Savio; and KDB with Silva on the left

I really hope that Odegaard doesn't rush back from injury. We can see how important he is for our success. It's more important for him to be consistently available in the future. Even if we were to struggle mightily in this stretch without him.

i fear that saka will have to carry a huge amount of the creative burden that ødegaard's absence will impose upon the team. trossard will have to start this game ahead of martinelli on the left as well, this isn't a game we can afford to attempt to play him back into form

I don’t care if we have 30% possession and half the shots. If we can keep a clean sheet, it’s a big statement - guarantees arsenal have the best defence in the league. No Odegaard means we should focus on counter attacking. Defend like Trojans and break on them. Martienlli… should be dropped

You say defend but drop martinelli, say what you want about his attacking form currently but he has been our best defensive winger besides saka for years, always bombs down that left to defend and back up the left back. He puts in the work and his workrate may be the reason he hasnt been dropped already honestly. If we want to put in a defensive performance he may be crucial to helping out the left side.

Am of the opinion he'll find his confidence in abit(it's all about the 1st goal, ala Havertz), though am also sure Arteta's patience won't last forever(he will need to repay Arteta's faith with goals currency or else....). The good thing is Sterling is slowly being weaned in as an option BOTH for the right/left wing, plus Trossard can handle the attack too.

Excellent insight! 🤓 Haaland may or may not be in the best form of his career, difficult to say until he faces a decent defence that's set up to keep him out, like ours will be. He certainly will be oozing a massive amount of confidence in front of goal, we just need our defence to stand up and repel him, which is what Saliba and Gabriel do best and they are oozing with confidence themselves. I think from the last two games we can keep a clean sheet even against City. I think we'll play the long ball game, over the top and away. Put 3 from Saka/Sterling/Trossard/Jesus/Martinelli across the front line and hook it over to either of them and we'll be in. Rice, Havertz and Jorginho can keep the midfield tight and help in defence. White, Saliba, Gabriel and Calafiori is a great back line against City.

What if Partey is replaced by Calafiori, then Calafiori steps into LB, Timber DM, in possession Cala steps into mid, have a right and left footed base in him and Jurien, dynamic! In defense, Timber steps back between Gabriel and Calafiori, solid backline. It could work, and it would surprise Man City. Timber ATM is more press resistant than Partey
