Jacob killing the sableye on accident while talking about how trash it was is the exact same way I lost Sillydillo, my sandslash, in my ruby nuzlocke. I was on the route between fortree and lilycove and one of the trainers had a milotic. I started complaining to my friends about how dumb it is to get milotic in gen 3 and zoned out, ignoring the fact that it was raining in the overworld and that it knew water pulse. I was going to switch to manectric since sandslash was in my lead spot but I was mashing A and not paying attention

Altering Cave was used for the E-Reader in Japan. The E-Reader would scan event cards sold at the Pokemon Centers and change the cave to have encounters with the Pokemon on the card.
