Yeah, that's probably the right word here. I just didn't enjoy the game as much as I did with the challenge presented with Chikorita. It just felt like starting RBFRLG with Bulbasaur. The reason the events are listed in the section for the town, and not organized by when you would do them is because Prima tended to make guides with the idea that you'd be flipping back and forth to reference things instead of going page by page. I don't think anybody ever expected anyone to do what you're doing. Lol. Most people use strategy guides explicitly as reference for justbthe oarts that they're struggling with, and being able to flip to a single section for the area where you're stuck is very helpful for that.

Silver is the canon version, in my opinion, and this isn't just because this was my first mainline game when I was 7. Thematically speaking, meeting Ho-Oh after beating Red is just poetic. Lugia is still my favorite, but I can't imagine Whirl Islands being the endgame for us when the opposite game is us climbing the most culturally significant icon in the entire Johto region to duel a very prominent figure in the region's folklore. Lugia's still important too, but for Ho-Oh to come first seems anticlimactic. Ho-Oh is the Mewtwo of GSC where Lugia is more one of the Legendary Bird/Beast trio in terms of narrative weight.

Silver was my first Pokemon game, which I got way back when I was in kindergarten, give or take. I had quite an... interesting experience learning how to play a real video game. For a long time, I didn’t know how to get out of my house. Seriously, I didn’t recognize that the mat on the ground meant I should walk down from that spot. I thought it was a “cool big-kids game” which entirely consisted of walking downstairs to talk to Mom and then doing nothing else. When I finally made it outside, I managed to keep playing past the first rival fight. When I was asked what his name was, I didn’t know that I could choose whatever I wanted. So I chose “???” since that was what the game said during the battle. I remember when my Weedle evolved into Kakuna, and I thought I was the greatest Pokemon trainer ever. I was giddy with excitement for hours. I remember thinking that my Kakuna could conquer anything in the entire game. Later on, my Kakuna evolved into Beedrill. I loved Beedrill so much that I wanted it to come with me on my adventure. I fiddled around for a while, and eventually found the “Release” function on the PC. I thought it meant “release from its pokeball so you could travel with it”. I learned the hard way that that wasn’t at all what the game meant. I must’ve only made it past the first couple gyms. But I still remember it very fondly. What a great game.
@morgastic233 жыл бұрын

Happiness was pretty strict in this generation, they need to win games to increase it, and fainting decreases it. Exp share is generally used if you want to keep the happiness low while leveling, while also feeding them bitter medicine, and fainting a lot. In later games you can increase the happiness by taking lots of steps while they are first in your party. In Mt Silver, in Gen 2, you need a Pokemon with Flash for going through the first section of the cave (and only the first. It get lighter the further you go into the cave). Since I didn't wanted to waste a slot with a useless Pokemon for my fight against Red, I used my guide (which had plans for every levels of the game) to go through the first section blind, converting every tiny pixels into cases.

Crystal was my first ever game. I remember getting Rocky, the Onix via trade before the first gym, and smashing the 3 first gyms with him. Just gotta be careful with the Mud Slap in the first gym. I had Totodile too, anyways. After that, you get Dig in the National Park, and teach him that to smash the 4th gym. Onix sucks, way worse than Geodude/Graveler. But I used him anyways, because he looked super strong and badass. Didn't know any better. I really can't remember any of my other team members, I think I used Suicune and Shiny Gyarados too, ( so yeah, 3 water types in my team, smart move) but that still leaves 2 spots. Might filled it up with Entei and Raikou eventually, but whatever. Don't matter. To this day, I still stand by thinking it's the best game they ever made. Amazing!

It's the best option against Whitney, especially in HGSS (since taking a female one won't hurt your performance as much as in Gen 2. A female one won't be affected by Miltank's Attract, but will be far less strong in Gen 2). Because he's a really decent tank, that can totally shut down any offensive threat in the game. Growl + Reflect is pretty cheap. They sadly lack Leech Seed normally, and Poison powder isn't that great (Later on, Body Slam is good to disrupt the opponent even more, and he has Light Screen) Plus, it makes the rival slightly easier, since during the Rocket mission, he'll only have Quilava. It's hardly the top choice (in HGSS at least, it's definitely Totodile), but for a knowledgeable trainer, it can be surprisingly useful) Yes, I have spent too many times thinking about this...
@kingjad94163 жыл бұрын

I've never heard of someone actually going with a Mareep before - just wait it out until you can catch a Magnemite, get an Elekid from the Egg at the Day care, or buy Thunder Punch from the Department Store in Goldenrod.
Beating Sonic 06 with an official strategy guide sounds hilarious. I would love to see! I bet it's going to be based on features not even implemented in the game like the power bar for Sonic's gems or how there additional levels and missions that were planned but then cut in the final version.
