Personally (after the updates), I've found S/V to be the most fun games to play since gen4, and that is mostly because it is now easier than ever to build a pokemon, but we dont have Contests or a battle frontier to test us against.

as a shiny hunter i would say emeralds biggest issue is the rng normally if you boot up your game you get a different seed every time with different pokemon. thats why soft resetting works however in emerald you get the same seed every time you boot up the game, meaning you could encounter different pokemon for a few soft resets but after a certain amount you will have seen most of the ones in the frames youre hitting for your resets and they wont change for platinum i would just say the fact, that the arceus event was in the game but we never got it due to it being "too complicated"

I love how much was added or reused from the original hoenn or expended upon. The ties with hoopa and the legendaries was cool. New megas was epic. The secret bases was so cool even the one in mossdeep city with the secret room that needed the e reader made a comeback with the qr codes from secret bases

I respect your opinion but seeing Sun/Moon and US/UM below SWSH, BDSP and XY hurts my eyes

I didn't mind Gen 7, but it feels pointless to me to have both Sun/Moon and UltraSun/Moon, yet there are things I like better about the original versions and things I like better about the Ultra versions. I'd like to be able to take those bits and put into one game.

Another interesting thing about Blastoise is that it actually switches to being a tortoise instead of a turtle (hence the "toise" as the end)

I played this game for the first time just a month ago and it's so good. They cut the painful backtracking part. Everything was so good. Mega evolution was the cherry on top

I like exploring the pokemon world and catching pokemon to continue the story. I think players should be able to progress through the story any way they want, if they want to progress through the story by catching pokemon they can, if they want to do it by earning gym badges, contest ribbons or completing island trails or whatever, you could in the same game.

I always thought shinnies were partly to show what I call Darwinian evolution, pokemon evolve slowly over time. With the shininess being due to mutation in their DNA.

It’s honestly embarrassing how many errors every single one of these 2D Pokemon era strategy guides had. I don’t care about them having tight deadlines to get these out, the companies should be ashamed to release a product with so much false information when the whole point of it is to be a guide for information.

I never got into the battle gimmicks of the newer gens of megas and onward. The thing I like the most about the newer games are the reginal forms and convergent evolutions. I wish we could get more fossil pokemon in a generation. I loved digging for fossils in the Sinnoh underground and would love if pokemon games in the future would allow me to dig out fossils and as many of a fossil as I want.

DexNav is so much fun. I love it. There's just something neat about finding Pokémon with egg moves, good IVs and especially hidden abilities. Moxie Mightyena is actually good. Brave Bird Taillow is very OP too. There are other things, but man, it's great. I do definitely miss the Battle Frontier. As the huge fan of it, it's just a shame not to bring. There was no reason not to either. But alas. At least they made breeding way way easier in this game. Now that I think about it though, I should do a Shedinja only run in ORAS too. As Emerald was such a huge success. :)

Could the item that was dig be actually part of an Item you'd receive from the Rocket Break in in celedon. Like you'd receive the tm to give to the person before having it as an actual tm

I used the Berserk Gene held item for the Red Fight on my Female Snorlax to Earthquake the Pikachu, and Attract the rest of his Pokémon. I even had Shadow Ball on it since Ghost moves were physical attacks! And Normal STAB Body Slam because it rules. Edit: Wait that’s not the item in question?

bw2 blocked venusaur and ivysaur because they contained the programming error code sau, possibly as an attempt to prevent ace seen in other earlier pokemon games, not because ivysaur had an offensive name, bare basic research could tell you this

Copying and pasting my reply to someone else here; Honestly I love sun and moon. And I love ultra sun and moon even more. Story is a big reason, but ALSO there are a lot of fun gameplay mechanics. S.O.S. Battles, mantine surfing, the berry island, the rainbow rocket take over, the worm hole legendary thing, choosing pokeball throw/pose types, and everything about ultra beasts- I honestly wasn’t aware people disliked this game outside of the long tutorial.

I don't understand why people would *hate* L=A feature; it's not the default, and it's pretty obvious what the intended use case is for it. I personally wouldn't ever use it (I need that LR functionality for faster box management), but it makes sense that it exists.

I loved ORAS because it made me get over my distaste for the Hoenn region. I remember playing the originals and not liking them compared to either the generation before or the generation after, so I thought it was just a bad region. I think what I disliked were the battle mechanics, which felt like a regression compared to the DS games (which I unfortunately played first) I didn't think I would like ORAS, because I didn't like RSE, but it completely blew past my expectations, to the point where I could even go back enjoy the originals for what they were (and Emerald is still one of the best in the series imo)

Maybe its the nostalgia talking but I find the 2d graphics more appealing. The Pokemon looked more colorful than the washed out colors in the 3d games. As for the 3d games the ones I enjoyed the most were Stadium, Colloseum and Legends Arceus. I will never touch Sun/Moon again. X,Y, Sword and Shield were passable. Scarlet and Violet made me stop and go back to the older games.

for me S/V has the worst gym leaders and elite 4 + champion... jesus they are so bad. And dont get me get startet on team "Bully victims" the open world was cool, breeding is a major step back from previous entrys... EV training was also better in previous games. Overall... not terrible but also not great

For me it was surprising how much just having the fixed mechanics like the physical/special split changed the enjoyment of the game. I do love going back to Emerald for nostalgia but just in terms of purely having fun time playing ORAS wins over the original games
