When he thought it was all over, it wasn't. Sonic 3 AIR is a 2 Games in 1 bundle. Sleengo (that's me) falsely believed that he was near completing the game when it turned out that he was only halfway to the end. In this video, join Sleengo as he continues his adventure with a side of Knuckles. Will he emerge victorious & Knuckles? Or will he succumb to the awesome power of Knuckles & Knuckles. The robot laughing at you at the end is supposed to indicate that there is special Knuckles-only content. If you play a save as knuckles the level design is changed and you are supposed to destroy this robot instead of Eggman. It takes place right after the end of Sonic's story. This however doesn't cannonically happen if you go for the true ending which is getting all of the super emeralds as well in the Sonic & Knuckles portion

Shadow the Hedgehog is a unique case, as while I guess it's TECHNICALLY a spinoff, it continues and wraps up story beats from SA2 and Heroes that you kinda need for 06 to make sense. So you'd want to continue in this order: Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes, Shadow, 06, etc.

Forgot to mention this in my last comment, but here’s the run down Mech Sonic Prototype, AKA Silver Sonic. First appeared in Sonic 2 game gear Mecha Sonic MRK 1, mostly known as Mecha Sonic. First appears in Sonic 2 Sega Genesis Mecha Sonic MRK 2, also known as Mecha Sonic also, but known as Metallix from Mario Bros Z, a fan film. First appears in Sonic 3&K All of these robots were made after Metal Sonic, Eggman still experimenting in ways to make Metal better is my theory on why they were made, but no one really knows why Eggman made them, maybe to replace Metal, which at the time was stuck in Little Planet because of the events from CD

Knuckles' hair is a nod to the rastafarian style, dreads-like, as well as his colors (red, yellow, green). In fact, one of the proto-names for Knuckles was "Dreds".

That's technically the true ending since Eggrobo at the end (that's what Eggman looking robots are called) meant to tease Knuckles' campaign where Eggrobo replaces Eggman. Mighty good playthrough I might say. For Sonic Adventure, I'd recommend either playing the original Dreamcast version on emulator or the pc version but with Dreamcast Conversion and BetterSADX mods. The first one returns the game to its original look and restores a lot of cut content and BetterSADX improves graphics, sound quality and a few other miscellaneous things. The reason why I recommend it is because DX version completely changed the look and feel of the game, removed a lot of stuff including lightning for some reason and also filled with glitches that were not in the original version. So beware. As for spinoffs, I'd recommend to try out Sonic 3D Blast Director's Cut since it's a massive hack that heavily improves the Genesis version of the game and was developed by the actual director of a team that developed 3D Blast. You could also check out Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit. Yes, it's a fan-game but it's very high quality and serves to remake one of the best Sonic 8-bit games while also staying true to the source materials. Sonic Chaos could also take your attention. It's pretty easy and nice to breeze through 8-bit platformer. For now, that's it. Waiting for your next Sonic videos, they are pretty fun!

I figured I’d mention sonic origins it was a rerelease of 1 2 3 and CD in a collection with wide screen support, removed the live system, and added animated cutscenes to the beginning and ending of all 3 games for extra context to the story with a few other additions like the game gear games. The fan remasters do add a lot more to the games compared to what Sega did in their remasters most fans would say the fan remasters are better but given time sonic origins will be modded to the level that the fan remasters are at, if you could maybe react to the cutscenes in origins that would be cool but I’ll leave that up to you.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles story explained shot version: After sonic 2, eggman went to angel island to track the emeralds down, he found the master emerald and knuckles protecting it. He tricked knuckles into thinking sonic was evil, so he could get the master emerald to himself, knuckles sees that he tricked him and he works with sonic to defeat eggman

Missing a couple important details. Angel Island floats in the sky with the Master Emerald. The Death Egg crashed on Angel Island after Sonic 2. Eggman didn't choose to go there. Eggman was also siphoning some power from the Master Emerald to re-launch the Death Egg before outright stealing it later, causing Angel Island to fall. The waves caused by this are what alerted Sonic and Tails to investigate. And finally, Sonic had the Chaos Emeralds from Sonic 2, but Knuckles took em.

I love this game, and honestly, I was impressed by how well you played. You even found some areas in the levels that I didn’t know about! I was expecting a lot more rage, especially in the sandopolis and death egg zones, but you made it through the hardest parts of the game. And all without super/hyper sonic cheese, too. You have the respect of a long time sonic fan, and a new sub. Also, I’ve been thinking of doing this same idea myself, but the other way around. Since you’re a long time Mario fan, do you have a recommendation on the best way to play the original classic Mario games (1-3 and world)? I’ve only played Super Mario Bros 2 and 3 a little bit at other people’s houses, but I’ve never beaten them. I figure it’s time to change that.

You probably don’t wanna do this but Knuckles has his own play through that has its own unique boss at the end. I recommend that you go to level select and just choose knuckles final boss from there. Its a 6 minute fight at most. But i understand if you don’t wanna do that lol.

Well done! You did get the good ending, and Knuckles has his own story, but I don't think that's too necessary. Also nice growth on the channel! I noticed that you mention Frontiers being the most recent game as of the time of recording, but that would be Superstars. I know that's a long time away, but it's worth keeping in mind as the list of main titles goes.

I hope once you've finished a bunch of the other games and have some free time, you'll consider revisiting this one and play through the Knuckles story. It's different enough to warrant it, and is generally considered to be a bit more challenging. Tails is also fun, but might be considered the "easy" mode of the game, and it's mostly the same as Sonic's. I don't know if this was an AIR change, but I didn't know you could do Doomsday Zone with only one set of Emeralds. IIRC if you fail to get them all in the Sonic 3 half, the normal gold rings will still appear in the & Knuckles half until you do, at which point I think it switches to the rainbow Hidden Palace ones. If you obtain Super Sonic before Mushroom Hill, then there's actually enough hidden rings to reach Hyper Sonic before the end of the first zone (if you're skilled enough). The 2nd half has less full zones, and with this less big ring opportunities late in the game, so they probably did this to make sure the player has a chance to get Super/Hyper in that half. The lives system is a hold over from arcades, and you're right that it's outdated. I will say that as kids we basically just had to "git gud" in order to see the end of the game, and mastering the game well enough rewarded us with seeing how the game ends. It is low key bizarre to see someone reacting to a more modernised take on my childhood, lol. I feel like I treat it as a given that everyone has played these classic games.

I highly recommend you play Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit. It's a fan recreation of the original 8-bit Triple Toruble. It introduces Fang the Sniper, who is relevant for Sonic Superstars, which is currently the latest Sonic release. It's part of the mainline games and takes place after Sonic Mania Encore mode. Knuckles' Chaotix is… technically relevant for the Chaotix's introduction? But it's kind of a horrible game all things considered, and Sonic Heroes introduces them better.
