The original Sonic 2 would have given you a much harder time. Not only because you have to do it all in one go, but because you lose ALL rings after each special stage making it that much harder to get an extra life and rings to stay alive and get the emeralds.

Aww what a shame. The final boss is actually rather easy once you learn the pattern. Always wait at the edge of the screen for him to land so you can run to the front of him and and never end up behind him. You can't hit him from behind, he has the jetpack flames, and drops bombs on him. Meanwhile, from the front, he alternates between just walking forward and shooting his hands out. When he first lands, he always lowers the torso before doing anything. You can hit him when he fires his arms because he's lowered, but it's risky. You can also hit in when he retracts his last step just before flying up again.

I couldn't learn the pattern and I didn't want to look up how to beat him because I thought that would be cheating since I wanted to play the game as blindly as possible. But thanks for the tips! I'll try to use that when I play the game again off camera. I already played Sonic 1 and CD again off camera just for fun!

I did not expect someone to get so much trouble with aquatic ruins. I always thought it as one of the easiest acts in the original Sonic game. Just stay high, and you're fine. 😂

These videos remind me of when I play these games with my dad. We play the emulator versions (Sonic classic heroes, sonic 3 complete, etc.) due to them having save states. My dad really likes save states. Besides that, amazing video!
