Beating the fear of photographing strangers

Street photographers always have a choice. They get take the risk and take the pic of someone without their permission or they can ask permission. Both scenarios have their advantages and disadvantages. Many people do really resent having their pic taken by a stranger and I don't know if "my" preferences should dominate in that situation.

Definitely! It's important for each photographer to define their philosophy and do their work as truthfully to it as possible. I don't necessarily think there's a right way or wrong way to either approach.

I am very much an introvert, but I try to push through my fears and every time I have it has been so gratifying, the same with my very first time of asking a lady if I could photograph her and she was thrilled so it was a really great positive experience for me! I enjoy both candid photos as well as asking to photograph strangers. Great video sharing your fears and how you overcome them😀

Same here, Sharon! I think it's good to have a good mix for candid and "posed" photos - it helps me tell a better story, plus now I really enjoying getting to know people as part of my process. Thanks for sharing about your experience :)
