Wow... absolute chaos. But you can tell the guys felt protected among the madness because there were 4 of them; they had each other. Doesn't look to me like ANYone was in charge at this conference, and I'm surprised Brian, their manager, allowed it to go on as long as it did. Great piece of video, though -- thanks for posting it!

This is the craziest press conf ever! The reporter who insists that he has his own private interview with Paul is ridiculous, and then LOL! at about 6:00 its a wide shot and you can see George is now giving his own press conference on the right side. Some other journalist followed the first guy's idea!

Did anyone notice that Paul seems more interested in what John is doing down on the other end, than in being interviewed? Every time the guy asks a question he turns his head to see what John is doing instead of answering.

Even after almost two solid years of enormous musical success, The Beatles were still not being taken seriously by the media. They gave stupid answers to stupid questions by ignorant journalists who understood nothing about music and the impact these men had on popular culture. Once can see how the twinkle in their eyes were starting to disappear. The seed of discontent had been planted.

At 7:40 notice the way Ringo and Paul answer the marriage question concerning John. When John hears what the question was he kinda blows it off. Cynthia and Julian were not talked about at that time because management wanted to "keep John single for the fans"...seems sad

I agree. I was there! Not at that conference but being at the right age during the sixties. I remember how consistent the Beatles were. Their latest single would settle and sink in when suddenly there would be a new release or a new album that sounded great. It was really amazing! And in between Beatle releases there were all these other great songs by american groups and other British singing groups. Also the movies that came out in the sixties were right up there too. It was a lot of fun yeah!

Oh how adorable! I was just thinking how cute those girls were. LA girls were the prettiest with NY girls coming in a close second at that time. The only ones who seemed to be getting into the long straight hair look, while the rest of the country still had the starched bouffants. Clearly, this event was not very well planned. But from reading about other celebrities, I gather that it was standard procedure to get the entertainer in a room with a bunch of reporters. The problem is there were four of them. I think they handled it well.

this is unusual as in it is usually one question at a time, instead this is a free for all. There was no one calling on one reporter at a time, it's a confusing mess, and the Hollywoood journos are not as good as NY.

It's little wonder The Beatles got so tired of their life as The Beatles. The strain is showing already, and this is August 1964. They still toured for another two years, so one can imagine how tired they were of everything by then. This is a very disorganised and disrespectful press conference. Various reporters are asking different members of The Beatles questions at the same time. Who can appreciate the answers when no one can hear what is being said most of the time?
